  • A Day Trip to Burnside Farms | Festival of Spring - Holland in Haymarket, Va.

Holland is known for their magical flower fields that cover the country this time of year. Since a quick trip to Holland isn't an option, the next best thing is just an hour outside of Washington DC in Haymarket, Virginia at Burnside Farms.

We had so much fun at the farm! We picked tulips, ran through the rows and rows of tulips and daffodils, jumped on a giant air pad and played with baby chicks. We got dirty, sweaty and took about a billion photos! I didn't want the day to end. It was such a perfect little day trip for a busy busy toddler!

  • Camden Turns The Wild One!

After months of planning for Camden’s first birthday party the big day finally arrived! We were so excited to celebrate with our friends, family and the newest one year old on the block! The big day came quicker than I had ever imagined and I’m not going to lie, there were moments I couldn’t control the emotions. My baby is growing up so fast and I can barley keep up! It feels like just yesterday we were bringing our little bundle home to start a new life together. *teeears* Oh what an intense and amazing year it has been! A big sappy blog post on motherhood and our first year as bffs coming next week!

Camden’s party was Pow-Wow/Tribal themed which meant tons of fun DIY projects for this crazy-crafting mama. I had saved several decorations from the baby shower which happened to be somewhat of the same color scheme so I was able to upcycle and reuse some. YAAAAS!

In between naps after setting up and throughout all of the excitement I was able to capture a few detail shots and candid moments from the party.

  • WigiWama Teepees Review | Special Discount Code

WigiWama is a rad mom duo from Latvia who create magical children's teepees. Perfectly matched for Camden's Pow-Wow/Tribal themed first birthday, WigiWama sent him THE MOST BEAUTIFUL TEEPEE ever! We are so incredibly grateful to them for the future memories that will be made!

We absolutely love this teepee, and as a mom I like it not only because its beautiful and brightens up our play room, but because it's well made, safe and easy to assemble. It came with 3 poles, rope, a fabric teepee, a matching padded play mat and a matching pillow cover. I gave it a quick iron and put it together in less than 20 minutes! It was the perfect gift for my little babe (and our kitty loves it too).

The gals at WigiWama were SO incredibly generous they gave me a discount code for friends to use on their site www.wigiwama.com! The code CAMDEN will get you 10% off at checkout which is valid until April 21st!

  • Camden's 10 & 11 Month Update

    Weight: 23.5lbs

    Length: 32 inches

    Diaper size: 5

    Clothing size: 12-18 months

Health: I don’t want to jinx it, but Camden has been extremely lucky with his health. Nothing more than a mini cold when he was a newborn.

Sleep: Cam is still taking 2 naps a day. His first nap is almost always a guarantee, while his second nap sometimes gets skipped (his decision, not ours). Occasionally he will take micro naps in his stroller or the car, which I don’t love, but sleep is sleep. Sometimes when he wakes up from a nap he is anxious and upset. He will scream and cry and can take up to 20 minutes to calm him down. I asked his doctor about it and she thought it might be because of bad dreams. I hate seeing him so upset so I started brining him a cracker and a sippy cup of water after his naps. For some reason this cured his nap terrors!

He is still sleeping through the night but for about a week he was waking up at 5:30am for cuddles.

Diet: The kid loves his food! Especially blueberries! He could eat all the blueberries in the world and still want more. They are his absolute favorite (which is funny because I craved blueberries while I was pregnant and ate them all the time)! He also loves grapes, bread, waffles, scrambled eggs, fruit smoothies, pasta, tuna sandwiches, crackers and yogurt. He gets picky with veggies so we try and hide them in pasta and smoothies. I’ve noticed that textures sometimes bother him… just like his daddy!

Loves: We recently learned how much Camden loves the water! While visiting family in Florida, we took Cam to the beach for the first time! He was not scared of the water or the waves at all. He actually crawled into the waves with a huge smile on his face. He was totally in his element! We also went swimming in a pool for the first time. He loves that too! The water was cold but my little fish-baby didn’t mind, he was busy splashing and kicking! We have a rec center and a water park down the street so we will be spending all summer in the water!

Dislikes: He’s been in an anti-stroller phase the last few weeks. He prefers to be carried. I loooove carrying him but he is SO heavy!!! So thank goodness for our Ergo carrier and our Sakura Bloom ring sling!

Milestones: He’s a pro-crawler at this point and is so quick, I can barely keep up. He has been practicing standing on his own and even took a couple steps today! He wants to walk so bad and his determination is SO sweet. He is def an Aries!

He can eat like a big boy and since he has SIX TEETH (he worked hard for those teeth), he can actually chew his food. We have felt more comfortable giving a more of a variety of food now, instead of purely soft bites.

His independence makes me really proud. Each month that passes the more and more he becomes content with toys (or garbage like bottles, boxes etc.) and less dependent on me having to sit right next to him. As much as I LOVE feeling needed its nice to see my little guy self sooth, play and dance on his own. It also allows me to get things done!

Cam is also aware of so much more these days! He points to things he wants, waves to friends and claps when he he feels proud.

Speech: He talks literally all day long and I LOVE it! What is he talking about?? No clue, but there will be a ma-ma, da-da or ba-ba every couple of minutes. He is starting to mimic tones and syllables with babbles which is super cute!

  • Camden's 8 & 9 Month Update

I failed at uploading an 8 month update >.< The holidays where INSANE and I never found the time to sit down and write. This update is going to be a combo of 8 & 9 months.

    Weight: 21.8 lbs

    Length: 30 inches

    Diaper size: 5

    Clothing size: 12-18 months

Health: We have been pretty lucky so far. Camden had a little cold for a couple days but thats it.

Sleep: Our once nearly perfect sleeper is deep into the “8-10 month sleep regression” part of his life. (YAAYYYY! *Sarcasm*) We don’t stick to much of a nap schedule anymore, but we pay attention to when he shows signs of getting sleepy- so in his case, red eyebrows lol. Some days he will nap twice a day for 1 1/2 hours each, and others we are lucky if we get ONE 45 minute the whole day. As a parent, you learn that these naps are KEY to getting things done so this is not a great situation.

Although his naps have been 70% crap, he still sleeps through the night peacefully and wakes up around his usual time, 6:30-7:30.

    Diet:

Over the last 2 months, Camden has been introduced to a ton of different foods. He’s a huge fan of scrambled eggs, apples, bananas, pears, chicken, potatoes, squash and pasta. As you know we had wanted to practice baby led weaning but sometimes, well… most of the time, things rarely go according to plan with a baby. I ended up making him homemade purees to introduce him to the tastes of different foods. Then, we started giving him puffs and yogurt drops to learn how to use his pinchers to pick up pieces of food and put them in his mouth. He also learned how to manipulate pieces of food in his mouth and swallow. Now, Camden can feed himself and loves it! He prefers to do things himself!

Loves: I have a weird kid. He is OBSESSED with The Gilmore Girl’s theme song. He will literally stop what he is doing to listen to it. If he is mid-meltdown and hears it, he will stop crying instantly. Its too funny!

He enjoys being around people. He loves to show off his new skills and show how he can clap.

He loves eating which is not a surprise since he’s a Moy! He loves puzzles, his lightsabers, his play table, anything that squeaks, mommy and daddy’s phones (so we have to sanitize them every day), Emily and her fluffy tail, books, vintage cartoons, flowers, being outside, swings and playing!

    Dislikes:

The kid HATES tuna. Like so much he rubbed it all over his hair so he didn’t have to put it in his mouth. So gross.

He gets super upset when we aren’t in the same room. He will play and ignore us but as soon as we leave he loses it! I guess he just loves us soooo much! :p

This is really weird but he gets crazy if his legs are covered. Every morning I bring him into bed with me to snuggle and for him to have his first bottle- I plop him next to me with all the pillows and bundle him up under the covers with me. He gets so pissed and kicks off the covers EVEN if its cold! Its definitely a Moy thing because Phil can’t stand his legs being hot.

    Milestones:

Over the last 2 months, he has hit so many milestones which makes me one proud mama! With all these milestones came a great deal of disrupted sleep and crankiness but it was so worth it! Camden now has 4 teeth! Sometimes I miss that gummy smile but I can’t tell you how much I love his new little chiclet smile!

He can now crawl like a pro, go from crawling to sitting upright, pull himself up (sometimes with his teeth which is weird), and walk around by hold on to the edges of furniture. I can’t believe how fast he became mobile and as exhausting as it is to chase after him constantly, I love that he can go from point A to point B all by himself. I can direct him to follow me which saves my back tremendously.

I don’t know if this is considered a milestone but he has become so independent! He can play for HOURS by himself. I can tell he already has a wild imagination!

Speech: Camden babbles non-stop! I think he legit thinks he’s having conversations with us. I babble back sometimes to amuse him. He can say da-da, ma-ma and ba-ba (for bottle). Once his vocabulary is more developed, I know he is going to be a little chatter box like his mama!

    Baby Gear Love:

Happy Baby Organics Puffs - These have been great for learning how to pick up pieces of food, chew and swallow. Also, these are my secret weapon for getting Camden to sit happy in shopping carts and car rides.

Happy Baby Organics Yogis-  Like the puffs these are great for learning how to pick up pieces of food, chew and swallow. These have more sugar so we do not give Camden as many.

Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Table- Camden loves this! Its super interactive and diverse. There is a learning option, singing option and even a learn Spanish option. It gets him dancing and learning the concept of pushing buttons to make sounds.

Enjoying the warm winter we have been having!

    Swing Swin with Bunny!

One of our favrite things to do is go grocery shopping together. He usually behaves better than all the other shoppers which makes me laugh... every time!

Took Camden to the Boat Parade of Lights in Old Town. Out friend took this lovely photo of us. Daddy had to work but we missed him!

    Mall Santa lol

  • Camden's 7 Month Update

    Weight: 20.8 lbs

    Length: 30 inches

    Diaper size: 4

    Clothing size: 9 - 12 months

    Health: Healthy boy

Sleep: We adjusted Camden’s sleep schedule a bit, by moving his nap time up by an hour. This is his sleep schedule at the moment

    6:30-7am Wake up

    9:30-11:30 1st Nap

    1:30-3:30 2nd Nap

    5:30 (optional 30-45 min Nap)

    7:00 Bed time

He was having issues getting stuck on his belly during the night and would get fussy and wake himself up. I let him figure it out on his own and within a week he learned how to sleep on his side and roll over on his back. He has a liking to the top corners of the crib. I don’t even know… the kid is an odd one.

There were a few incidences this month where he was super clingy, he could not stand being away from us, so when it came time to sleep he would flat out protest.

We also started nap training him in his crib this month. He had been napping in his swing since he was a few weeks old. I was never quite comfortable with it, but it was the only thing that helped him to sleep comfortably for hours at a time. The first few days of nap training were a little tricky but with consistency and not giving into his cries, he learned to nap for 1.5-2 hours at a time. YAY for being persistent!

    Diet:

It was my goal to let Camden lead himself with eating solids but he never seemed quite ready.  I was eager for him to explore solids and it was obvious he was interested and wanted them. I decided to try and help him out and fed him myself. Yea… I know it goes against true “baby led weaning” but we do whatever works for our own situations. He loves being spoon-fed so much he tries to do it himself. With time he has been getting the hang of picking up pieces of food on his highchair tray with his pinches and putting them in his mouth. He likes everything we have given him, which are waffles, sweet potato (puree form only), bananas and apple sauce.

I have been making my own baby food which is a lot of fun! I use the BabyCook Pro which is AMAZING! It’s super easy and is an all in one type of deal.

Loves: This month, Camden has shown a lot of interest in his toys. He has obvious favorites and loves them so much he will dig through his entire toy box to find them, even if they are at the very bottom. Its so cute and really rad to see him have a preference. He also LOVES music. I mean, he was born with music playing and it hasn’t stopped since so I am not surprised. If he is having one of those days, daddy usually will pull out his guitar and play him some of his favorites- Alkaline Trio (Love, Love, Kiss, Kiss), Johnny Cash (Ring of Fire), Taking Back Sunday (Q Without the E).

He also loves ice cubes, stroller walks, leaves, other babies, being held by anyone, getting his hair brushed, baths, rolling over when we try and change his poop diapers -_- eating dinner at the table with mom and dad, Emily, playing, being outside, grandma and grandpa, my phone, army crawling, banging his toys and sleep!

Dislikes: As mentioned above, he loves sleeping, but sometimes putting him down results in a total meltdown. As soon as his body hits the crib mattress he loses it. He can’t stand silence, but then again neither can I so I totally get it.

Milestones: Camden has been working hard on crawling. He can army crawl and is trying to figure out what to do after he makes it on all fours. He will rock back and forth and then give up. I have a feeling this next month will be the month he figures out whats next. Should be fun…. meaning I will have to get a baby jail.

Camden can roll over front to back and back to front now, which make it easier for him to sleep. Thank goodness!

We have teeth!! This teething journey has been rough for our little dude. He has been in a lot of pain and discomfort so we were SO relieved when we finally saw his two bottom front teeth cutting through.

We have successfully transitioned from swing napping to crib napping! WOOHOO!!

Camden grew out of his infant car seat. I though we would have a few more months but nope! We have a giant baby on our hands so he now has a great new carseat with plenty of room to grow!

Speech: He can only “da-da” consistently but now that he has a couple teeth he is figuring out all of the new sounds he can make. Recently he has been making the “s” sound a lot.

    Baby Gear Love:

Huggies Overnight Diapers (we were having leaking issues and started to double up his Earth’s Best diapers, but that seemed to be a huge waste. These are SO much better and work like a charm!)

Evenflo Symphoney LX Convertible Carseat (Camden loves it! Its so big and comfy. If you choose this carseat, make sure it will fit in your car prior to buying! It barely fit in our Subaru Forester.)

Intelex Cozy Therapy Plush, Hedgehog (great for chilly days! Pop him in the microwave for a minute or two and enjoy the warmth for up to 3 hours.)

    Munchkin Powdered Formula Dispenser

3 in 1 Calming Shampoo, Bubble Bath and Wash

    BabyCook Pro

  • Falling for Fall: Halloween & Family Outings

The best season of the entire year always feels like the shortest. Virginia is absolutely GORGEOUS this time of year!  We had to make the most of every single beautiful day!

Went to Nalls Produce to pick out our pumpkins this year! They had all sorts of cute Halloween displays and activities for kids. Of course, Cam is too young to run around and play, but he loved seeing the farm pig, chickens, pumpkins and other kids. We had SOO much fun! Oh, I should also mention it was 80 degrees on this day. So weird!

A sweet stranger offered to take a quick fam photo of us <3

Camden is pretty stoked on leaves. He loves to grab them and crunch them in his hands.  Beanie- Amazon | Flannel Shirt- Old Navy | Therman- Carters | Pants- Zara | Boots- Dr. Martens

    Bloody cupcakes for Halloween

Leela, Fry and Nibbler from Futurama.  I had SO much fun DIY-ing these costumes. It was surprisingly easy! For Leela, I bought a sheet of plastic needlepoint paper and drew/cut out her cyclops eye. Then, used black elastic to create the band. For the gauntlet, I used foam sheets. I already had black pants and a white tank top. My costume cost $3! Fry was super easy as well! Orange wash-out hair dye which I found for $2 at Target, red dress-shirt and jeans from Good Will, cost $10, Phil already had a white t-shirt and black Vans shoes. Nibbler was a little more work, but it was still quite cheap! I had a plain black beanie and used felt to create Nibbler's face. For his middle eye, I used a couple black pipe cleaners that poked out the top center and hot glued a foam ball to it. I sewed the pipe cleaner into the hat to secure it. For the red cape, I bought the cheapest red fabric I could find from Handcock Fabric ($2). Camden already had black pants, and a black hoodie. I used a piece of tan felt to make Nibbler's belly.

Took our Futurama costumes to the Del Ray Halloween Costume Parade. So many wonderful costumes, we were so happy to be apart of it.

Carved a cat pumpkin, of course! Tip to keeping your pumpkin last longer: mixture of equal parts water and bleach. Spray the exposed pumpkin flesh.

And because you can't just have one costume for your first Halloween AND this is the year of Star Wars... Camden was Yoda on actual Halloween. I found the crochet beanie on Etsy, the mini lightsaber from Target dollar deals section, and I made his little tan robe. He already had brown leggings.

We walked around town for a bit so Camden could show off his rad Yoda costume.

My Halloween make up this year. Pop art gal <3 We sat outside, listed to the MIsfits, handed out candy and had a pizza and wine party. It was the best Halloween ever!

First pumpkin pie of the year and a test run for Thanksgiving!

  • Camden's 6 Month Update | Happy Half Birthday

    Weight: 20 lbs

    Length: 29.5 inches

    Diaper size: 4

    Clothing size: 9 - 12 months

    Health: Healthy and happy!

Sleep: Our little guy is still a super sleeper but I have noticed a few hiccups in his sleep schedule that coincide with meeting milestones in his development. Camden has been working hard on rolling over and sitting up and both developmental peeks have resulted in fussy nights. They only last for a few nights, thank goodness! The worst was just a few nights ago. Camden started rolling over from back to tummy in his crib, and he would get stuck. He hadn’t figured out how flip over on his back, and got crazy frustrated. A few times, I would go into his nursery and help him (after waiting about 10 minutes for him to try and nail it himself), but eventually he found comfort in sleeping on his belly.

Diet: We started introducing Camden to a few solids foods this month. He has been showing interest in what we are eating so we thought we would give him the chance to explore. We have given him sweet potato and banana… both of which ended up everywhere except for in his mouth. I love watching him play with his food and figuring out what he is supposed to do with it. A few times, small pieces found their way to his mouth but he was NOT having it and spit them out. I think he is just nosey about what we are eating and wants to be apart of it, but not quite ready.

Loves: Being held, being social, parks, coffee dates, walks, being tickled, being read to, bath time, Emily (♥), grandma and grandpa, sucking his thumb, Alkaline Trio (got that from Phil), girls (not thrilled, but whatever), other babies, nap time.

Dislikes: The kid HATES being alone. I mean, I get it, Mom and Dad are pretty cool but he definitely has separation anxiety. So, I am working on teaching him that being independent is ok, and Mom and Dad are always near by.

Milestones: Camden has hit so many milestones this month. He can roll over, he can sit up on his own and he has started saying “da-da”.

He is such a wiggle worm and we literally can’t take our eyes off him even for a minute, he will end up on the other side of the room. I think it may be time to get a baby jail.. I mean, play yard for him. :p

Speech: If he is not sleeping or eating, he is talking. He talks to his hands, to his feet, to his toys, to Emily, to Mommy and Daddy. He is just full of stories. He has been saying “da-da” a lot lately which is SOOOOOOO cute!!!!!! He has the sweetest little voice, I can’t get enough of it.

  • Lily Jade: A Diaper Bag in Disguise and Special Announcement

The amount of stuff that comes along with you and baby on even the smallest of outings is ungodly! But its all necessary..what if he is hungry? I need extra bottles, formula and water. What if he has a blow out? I need enough diapers, wipes and change of clothes! What if he is cold? I need a hoodie and his favorite blanket. What if he doesn’t want to play with Daisy (currently, his favorite toy)? I need to bring a back up. What if it gets super sunny? I need his sun hat and sun screen. The list goes on and by the time you have everything stuffed into your diaper bag, its busting at the seams! Oh, and don’t even bother trying to fish anything out because its impossible, unless you’re lucky enough to find what you need at the top. My life as a mom was about to change.

When Lily Jade contacted me about reviewing one of their diaper bags, I was ecstatic! Of course, I had read and seen Lily Jade bags in magazines, on several mommy blogs and “must have lists”, so I knew I would absolutely adore this bag… this amazing diaper bag in disguise.

You’d never know this beautiful designer bag was stuffed full of blow out essentials and toys for days! The best part is, the chaos that IS a diaper bag is actually capable of being completely organized! One of my absolute favorite features is the removable “Baby Bag” organizer that comes with every Lily Jade bag. I can compartmentalize changing necessities, food, toys and have a separate section for my own things! There are two magnetic snaps that keeps the organizer in place, which also allows it to transform from diaper bag mode to “Mom is going out baby free” mode.

I have the “Madeline” in black which can be worn 3 different ways. Across the chest, on the shoulder and as a backpack! My son, Camden is in that wiggly stage and having our bag strapped to my back and totally out of the way, makes everything SO much easier!

This bag is just wonderful and has changed the way Camden and I go out. Have I convinced you to look into getting your very own Lily Jade diaper bag? I hope so because I have some exciting news!

Who doesn’t love a good giveaway!? I have teamed up with Lily Jade and we are giving away a diaper bag to one lucky Instagram follower. Keep an eye out for my official announcement which will be posted next week on my Instagram!

  • Camden's 5 Month Update + Welcome to the World, Cousin Parker Mitchell Yates!

    Weight: 17.5 lbs

    Length: 28.5 inches

    Diaper size: 3

    Clothing size: 6 - 9 months

Health: Health is all good. Camden had his shots a couple of weeks ago and took them like a champ! He cried, of course but I think mommy and daddy cuddles soothed him back to being happy and giggly.

Sleep: He has been sleeping well for the most part. There was about a week where he would fuss like crazy when putting him down and would cry until one of us came in to hug him. Although there are no visible teeth poking through yet, I know his gums are bothering him. All the cuddles he wants and needs!

We are gearing up to start nap training him in his crib, again… should be fun..

Last month, we started weaning him off of being swaddled by freeing one arm.  It did not bother him one bit. We took the other arm out and it took him a few nights to get used to it. Glad he grew out of the startle reflex phase!

Diet: Diet is the same. Breastmilk, formula and diluted apple juice to help to poos. We let him play around with a soft cooked sweet potato. He loved mushing it around in his fingers. Cute to watch, not cute to clean. We are going to start baby-led weaning next month. I am super excited! BRING ON THE MESS, CAM!! Note to self- buy a splat matt!

Loves: When we sing Itsy Bitsy Spider, picnics in the park, apple juice, cheek kisses, bath time (WOW, right?!?), lavender lotion, people watching, Emily, getting his photo taken, music, tickles and his jumperoo.

Dislikes: Well, we can no longer complain about Camden hating bath time! He absolutely LOVES it now! Thanks to a recommendation from a mom friend, we bought a different bath, that is more like a cushion. He just loves it. He kicks, splashes and giggles the whole time. What a difference! Still hates sitting still, the car and not being the center of attention.

Milestones: SOOOO much has changed in the last month. I swear this baby is turning into a proper little boy! He is working on sitting up and can do it on his own for a few minutes at a time before face-planting into the carpet. He is still using his arms between his legs to balance but I have a feeling he won’t be needed them for much longer. He also is just about ready to roll over from back to belly. He squirms and twists but hasn’t quite made it on his own yet. He has started to grab EVERYTHING!!!!!!! Especially table clothes with plates of hot food on them… no bueno!

Speech: He chit chats away all day long. He even started this high-pitched squeal that is quite ear piercing.

  • Camden's 4 Month Update

    4 Months

    Weight: 16.5lbs

    Length: 27 inches

    Diaper size: 2

    Clothing size: 6 months

Health: We have our 4 month appointment coming up which means shots :(

Sleep: We attempted to nap-train him in his crib but that didn’t go over very well. He fusses then only sleeps for 30-45 minutes so back to the swing he went. He finally has a pretty set nap routine, although times do vary depending on his energy and mood.

He wakes up at about 7am, and SOMETIMES he will fall back to sleep in bed while nursing. But since he is a pretty solid night sleeper its not every morning. His first naps have been around 10:30-11 and sleep anywhere from 1 hour to 3 hours. NEVER WAKE A SLEEPING BABY- so I let him sleep as much as he wants. He still takes a couple little catnaps here and there but those last only about 20 - 30 minutes. Then around 3:00 he takes his second nap of the day. Wakes up around 4:00-5:00. Bed time feedings start at 8 so he is usually asleep in his crib by 8:30. He still sleeps though the night but teething is happening so I am sure that will change.

We still swaddle him at night but have begun the weaning process. He sleeps with one arm out and doesn’t seems phased at all. Fingers crossed we get the same response when both arms are out!

Diet: Breast milk and formula. We introduced him to apple juice as suggested by his doctor. We noticed discomfort when trying to poop, so we started giving him about 3 oz of diluted apple juiced. It’s been helping a ton! Plus I think the kiddo likes the taste.

Loves: Chewing on everything! Loves to be front facing in his carrier. He is starting to enjoy tummy time which make me a happy mama! Build those neck muscles!

Dislikes: Bath time is still not fun. This keep will NOT be the stinky kid in school who doesn’t bathe so we are buying him a new “tub” which hopefully will help and make him feel better. Still not a fan of the car, although we can get about 10 minutes of silence out of him if we bring all 5 million of his toys with him. :p I think he is getting better with his stroller, he seems to not HATE it. I think thats due to the fact that he can actually see whats in front of him now so he is too distracted by his surroundings to get pissy.

Milestones: He can push his whole upper body up and wiggle in different directions. I will put him down on his playmat, and 2 minutes later he is on the other side. He taught himself to self-sooth with his fingers. He has also started “talking”. Its crazy cute! He has also started playing with his toys. He recognizes the difference and definitely has preferred favorites.

Speech: He will have a full on baby conversation with his toys. I can tell he is going to be a chatter box when he can actually talk. Just like his mama and dada <3

    Length: 25.1 inches

    Diaper size: 1

    Clothing size: 3-6 months

Health: We have been sticking to the same gas-relief routine. Gripe water and leg pumps.

Sleep: Still sleeping through the night. Bed time feeding begins at 8pm and he is usually swaddled and asleep by 8:30-8:45. He sleeps sound for 10-11 hours. I a one proud mama!

    Diet: Breast milk and formula.

Loves: Getting his picture taken, laughing, smiling, tush tickles, sucking on his fingers, coffee dates with mommy and daddy.

Dislikes: Still hates the bath and has recently grown to dispise the car seat and stroller. I don’t know what happened but I am hoping its just a phase! Its too hot to wear him around everywhere.

Milestones: He can giggle, hold his head up, grab his toys, roll over from front to back. Lets not ignore the fact this this little boy is not so little anymore. He is HUGE! Growing like crazy!

    2 Months

    Weight: 11.2lbs

    Length: 23.4

    Diaper size: 1

    Clothing size: 0-3

Health: Still gaining weight wonderfully. Camden caught a little cold so we have had the pleasure of breaking in the nose frida… so that was fun. Still a gassy little man but we have introduced gripe water and it makes a huge difference!

Sleep: Camden sleeps through the night. I have learned to never wake a sleeping baby so I don’t. He lets me know when he is hungry or needs a cuddle or diaper change.

Diet: Breastfeeding is not easy. In fact, its probably one of the hardest things to do. With Camden’s demands and my supply I simply cannot keep up so we started supplementing with formula. He gets all the nutrients he needs to grow. We will monitor his weight gain and reactions to his new diet and adjust accordingly.

Loves: Still obsessed with ceiling fans, his toys (friends) and smiling at mommy and daddy.

Dislikes: Baths, tummy time, jazz music, sitting still.

Milestones: Camden started smiling! Its the cutest thing ever! He is getting so much better at holding his head up.

    Speech: Just slurping and snorting.

  • Camden's 1 Month Update

    1 Month

    Weight: 8.5lbs

    Length: 22.2

    Diaper size: Newborn

    Clothing size: Newborn

Health: Camden is packing on the pounds and is in perfect health. All of the estrogen still in his system has caused baby acne and hair loss. But thats OK. His skin will clear up and his hair will grow back.. So Patrick Stewart won’t be his doppelganger forever LOL >.< All babies have gas, but Camden seems exceptionally gassy to where it is a little painful. We pump his legs and give him little tummy massages to help.

Sleep: This kid loves to sleep, and will sleep ANYWHERE! His favorite cat nap spots are- the stroller/car seat (LOVES car rides, he passes right out), in his ring sling, in his bouncer and in his swing. The first few weeks Camden slept in our room so I could feed him every couple of hours but he grew to HATE his bassinet so we opted to try letting him sleep in his nursery. This was a much more successful sleeping arrangement for all, and by 4 weeks old, he only woke up twice during the night for feedings.

Diet: Camden latched right away so we have began our breastfeeding journey. My milk came in a few days after we brought him home. Its been a painful process but we are thankful for the ability.

Loves: Sleeping, ceiling fans, going on walks, the garden center at Home Depot, music, cheek tickles.

Dislikes: Baths, his bassinet, tummy time.

Milestones: Can lift his head up for a few minutes at a time, can sleep for 6 hours straight at night.

Speech: Not much going on in the speech department. He mostly makes sucking noises and burps lol

  • The "Can't Live Without" List - Surviving the First 2 Months of Parenthood

Being a parent is not a piece of cake! It can be overwhelming, tiring, frustrating and HARD (but don't forget about wonderful and amazing)! How could such a tiny, cute mini human be so loud, demanding and bossy!!? Phil and I spent the first two months of Camden's life figuring out ways to make our new life with a baby as fun and relaxing as possible for him as well as us! This is my "Can't live without" list!

    Boppy

Makes nursing comfortable for you and baby. You can also use it for propping your baby up at 2 months, tummy time at 6 months and support for when your little learns to sit up.

    Sakura Bloom Baby Sling

We are huuuuge fans of baby wearing! The Sakura Bloom ring sling is so perfect! Easy to use, not bulky and even looks rad on dad! <3

    ergo baby Original Carrier

Another way to wear your baby. Camden loves his ergo carrier!

    Conair Sound Machine

Camden was born with music playing so naturally soothing background noise puts him right to sleep. Even when he wakes up during his sleep cycles, this sound machine keeps him relaxed makes it easy for him to fall right back into a deep comfy sleep.

    HALO SleepSack Swaddle

Phil and I are terrible swaddlers! Have a couple of these on hand so baby can sleep safely and comfortably.

    aden + anais swaddle blankets

Favorite band of swaddle blankets. The quality is wonderful and the fabric is soft and airy! Not just for swaddling (which we suck at) but can also be used as burp cloths, nursing and stroller covers, portable cot sheets, stroller and car seat liners, tummy time blankets and change table covers.

Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Standard Bottles

Reduces Colic, Spit-Up, Burping & Gas

Pump In Style Advanced Breastpump Starter Set

Free through insurance!! Best pump! So easy to use and not super noisy!

    Woods Creek Candles

To mask the farts and poops that will flood your house! Woods Creek Candles are my favorite. They are super scented and lovely.

Fisher-Price My Little Snugabunny Cradle 'N Swing

A GODSENT!! I can put this child in his swing and he will sleep for hours! Phil and I can enjoy peaceful dinners together, watch movies, clean the house, make dinner, shower… all those things you never thought you would be able to do with a new baby!

    Bribble Bibs/Bandana Bibs

Traditional bibs DO NOT GO WITH OUTFITS! Ew! They look so messy! But these do! No more spit-up covered clothes!

This is in no way a "parenting post". These are little tips and tricks that work for our family.

  • The Birth of Camden Mitchell Moy

April 8th 2015. I noticed signs of "early labor" that morning. My mucus plug fell out! Yes, "mucus plug" is literally the grossest term ever, but it is what it is. For anyone who does't know what a mucus plug is (aka bloody show), its basically a plug created by your body to block anything from entering or exiting your cervix during pregnancy. It falls out when your cervix starts to widen. Whatever you do, DO NOT GOOGLE IT!!

Once the mucus plug falls out, it can take anywhere from a few hours to a couple of weeks for labor to pick up. I was lucky and did not have to wait long. At around 10:30 that evening, Phil and I were watching Parks and Recreation and I felt a "pop" in my uterus. It didn't hurt but it felt super awkward. I wobbled to the bathroom and out it came…. NOPE! not the baby :p, but a gush of water. My water had broke and we immediately called the hospital to let them know Baby C was ready! We showered, cleaned up the house, fed Emily and packed the car! Within the hour I started having mild contractions.

We arrived at the hospital around 11:30pm and headed straight to the evaluation room to make sure I was "actually in labor". I obviously was, but I guess it was mediatory that they test my amniotic fluid to make sure it was actually amnionic fluid. Indeed it was and as my contractions began to SUCK, we were taken to our labor and delivery suite. The room was wonderful! So comfy and absolutely huge! We immediately plugged in an iHome and cranked yoga music to keep the mood chill. By 4:30 in the morning, I was about 3 centimeters dilated. I couldn't deal with the contractions anymore so I demanded an epidural. I've had a lot of people ask me  how bad the epidural was but in all honesty, it barely hurt at all and I think that is mainly because the contraction were so god awful. For those of you who are scared of the epidural, don't be! If its something you want, go for it!

About 20 minutes later, I was totally numb from the waist down. I couldn't feel my contractions which RULED but that also meant my legs didn't work which was weird. I had the most amazing sleep of my life that night! While I slept, my contractions became closer together and my cervix dilated more and more, but not fast enough. One of the drawbacks to getting an epidural is that it can slow down the labor process. I was given pitocin to get it back on track. By 2 pm I was fully dilated. My midwife, Jenna had me sit straight up in my bed to allow the baby to "drop" as much as possible, which can make pushing easier and delivery quicker. I was scheduled to begin pushing at 3:30pm. As I waited, I munched on ice chips, texted family and friends and took selfies with my selfie stick. By now, my epidural began to wear off a bit, and I was feeing contractions. This was a good thing as I would be able to feel the pressure to push.

At 3:20pm I was coached by a nurse on pushing.  As we did a couple of practice pushes, baby C's head was visible so she had me stop. 3 women in the labor and delivery ward (including myself) where all in the exact same stages of labor so my poor midwife was running around between the 3 of us trying to delver each baby in a timely manner. When it was our time to push, she had offered to bring in a mirror so I could watch our progress. Now, this was NOT in my birth plan but then again we did not use my birth plan once as a reference during the entire labor/delivery. I was more comfortable just winging it and doing whatever was best for my baby and myself. I will say, using the mirror was the best decision! To watch the process was amazing and not as scary as I thought it would be.

With a nurse on one leg, Phil on the other and Jenna in the middle, it was time! Surprisingly, I was not nervous or scared, just overwhelmed with excitement and ready to meet this little ninja that had been living inside of me for the last 10 months. Phil was a HUUUUGE help the entire time I pushed. He and the nurse each held my feet so I could push off of them and he was giving me continuous cheers and encouragement. I absolutely loved that he was able to be involved in the actual delivery of our baby!

After about 15 minutes of pushing, baby C's heart rate began to drop so I was put on oxygen which helped bring his heart rate back up. Even at this point I was not concerned or scared. I knew my little guy was OK and trying his hardest to meet us. At this point the top of his head was out and just a few minutes later I was instructed by Jenna to laugh. So I did. This was my final "push" which would bring my little Camden into the world. I immediately reached down and pulled him up to my chest. Still attached to his umbilical chord and wet, we locked eyes. I hugged him, kissed him and smelled him. This exact moment would forever change me as a person and give my life a deeper meaning.

April 9th, 2015 at 3:59pm, I was blessed with a perfectly healthy baby boy who had given me the best pregnancy and most amazing labor and delivery. It was such an empowering experience. I encourage all women to try their hardest to enjoy the entire journey! Each birth story is different but just as special. The ability to give life is incredible and a true miracle.

  • DIY Burp Cloths

I came across a super adorable tutorial on Pinterest for DIY burp cloths or spit up rags. I just HAD to make my own! I searched for a lovely fabric made of organic cotton on Etsy and came across these two patterns that Ioved! Initially I had gotten minky cloth to use as well but when I began to work with it, I HATED IT and I did not see it being all that absorbent so I went with a simple soft terry cloth.

    You will need:

1 yard of terry cloth (prewashed)

1 yard of patterned fabric (prewashed)

    Thread to match

Step One: Cut a rectangle 10x18" out of both the terry cloth and the patterned fabric.

Step Two: Sew the two rectangles together, right-sides together, with a 1/2" seam, leaving a 1" opening in the middle of one of the edges.

Step Three: Flip the burp rag right-side out, and topstitch all the way around, including on the opening to close it.

    THE END ALL DONE!

Stretch marks? Not yet! I have been using sweet almond oil twice a day.

Sleep: I have def noticed a difference in my sleep quality this week. I pass out around 11pm, then at around 3 am wake up every 45 minutes to pee. Then for the rest of the night I feel restless and sweaty. So thats cute.

Best moment this week:  Bags packed! Ready to go! The nursery is also ready for baby C! Check out my previous blog post with a million photos of our lovely little baby cave!

Just like Daddy Docs! I am SO in love!

  • What's in my hospital bag? The compete list!

I don't know why, but during the last few months of my pregnancy I have been obsessed with "what's in my hospital bag" videos and blog posts. I find them extremely helpful so here is what we are bringing with us to the hospital. Maybe it will help someone else. Disclaimer: I have a MAJOR over-packing problem, so this is the best I could do. ;)

♡One bag for Mommy which will have everything I need for labor and delivery plus recovery. I am also bringing along my Bobby pillow and a pillow from home. • Baby "C's" Nursery Reveal Plus Changing Table/Closet Organization

As soon as we found out we were pregnant, we got started on the nursery! It wasn't hard to dream up the perfect vision of a little nest for baby to live and grow in.  As most of you know, Phil and I are hardly traditional so instead of a standard "boy's" room, we went with a theme of things the both of us love. Flowers, animals, vintage elements, art work, typography and calming colors. Its our idea of a perfect little gender neutral nursery!

    Changing table organization:

Top- Diaper Caddy (small amount of NB diapers, hand sanitizer, wipes, diaper rash cream, powder, toy) Changing pad with cover.

First drawer- NB sized diapers, wipes (+extras), wash cloths, socks, burp cloths, scratch mittens, pacifiers, teething tools, first aid kit for a newborn, grooming kit, breast pads, lotion, sunscreen.

Second Drawer- Sorted by size- short-sleeved onesies, pjs & shoes

Third Drawer- Hooded towels, bibs/burp cloths, swaddles, receiving blankets, extra changing pad cover.

Clothes separated according to size/age. Small Laundry basket, "too small bin" sliding cube bins containing hats, baby carriers, toys etc. Books were giving in place of cards from friends and family.

  • How to Get a Free Breast Pump!

Did you know that thanks to the Affordable Care Act, insurance companies now cover the FULL cost of breast pumps! Its a super easy process and will save you a good amount of money!

I had my poor husband call our insurance to inquire about this (Sorry Phil!!) and they directed him to all the right places to obtain one. That is literally all you have to do! I received a Medela Pump In Style Advance Starter Set (retails for $120) 3.5 weeks prior to my due date. I'm ready for you Baby C!! <3

    I hope this was helpful!

  • 33 -35 Week Pregnancy Update Plus A Few Treats for Baby C!

    How far along? 35 weeks

Total weight gain/measurements: We are just going to leave this one alone for now… lol Lets just say, I have put on some water weight and screamed WHOA when I stepped on the scale at my last appointment. -_-

Maternity clothes: I live in 3 outfits, sweatpants and one pair of busted Toms. I can't fit into much else and I would rather spend money on baby stuff than clothes for myself so whatever.

Stretch marks? Not yet! I have been using sweet almond oil twice a day.

Sleep: Its not horrible but its not great either. I will have random nights of blissful sleep and other nights of hell. BUT that is to be expected. Its so hard to turn over! I literally have to use my hands to fling my legs over, otherwise they feel so heavy and hurt so much, turning over is just impossible.

Best moment this week:  We had our baby shower this past weekend and it was AMAZING! So lovely, so fun and we are SOOOOO grateful to our friends and family who spent the day with us! I will post a whole separate blog post with TONNNNNSSSS of photos! It was like Pinterest threw up all over my house! It was perfect!

Miss anything? I really miss being comfortable and not being in pain. It will all be worth it, I know.

Movement: Still a ninja even though space is super limited in there!

Food cravings: Water, ice, oysters, salads, anything sweet.

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing new. Still can't stand Old Bay or popcorn (barf!!)

    Gender: My Moy Boy <3

Symptoms: I have noticed that my body is starting to retain A LOT of water. My feet and ankles get super swollen! They look like subway sammich loaves according to Phil. (humph) I have also noticed my face filling out quite a bit, which I don't love...

Belly button in or out? FLAT and sometimes out when he's poking me!

Wedding rings on or off? OFF! These sausage fingers couldn't take it anymore!

Happy or moody most of the time: HAPPY!

Looking forward to: More nesting with Phil! Photographing the nursery! AND OF COURSE MEETING OUR BABY BOY!!!!

  • 29 & 30 Week Pregnancy Update Plus DIY Nursery Mobiles, The Burlap Bag Gifts, Baby Shower Invitation and More

    How far along? 30 weeks

Total weight gain/measurements: 128lbs. SOMEBODY had a growth spurt!

Maternity clothes: I had been searching for the perfect dress for my baby shower. I went on ASOS maternity and found a couple dresses that I LOVED! Because ASOS offers free return shipping, I usually order multiple items then return the "rejects". Anyways, I found the loveliest dress that fits my round body like a dream! I can't wait to wear it!!

Stretch marks? Not yet! I have been using sweet almond oil twice a day.

Sleep: Its been pretty good the last couple weeks considering how big I am. Emily has been extra cuddly and basically spoons my belly every morning. Its pretty adorable.

Best moment this week:  Finishing the nursery mobile!!

Miss anything? I miss not having to pee every 15 minutes. I feel like the cold makes it even worse!

Movement: I wonder how much room he has in there. He seems to be flopping around all over the place! I asked my doctor what his positioning during our last appointment and he was head down! :)

    Food cravings: Tuna (ew)

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing new. Still can't stand Old Bay or popcorn (barf!!)

    Gender: My Moy Boy <3

Symptoms: No new symptoms. Just getting progressively round and heavy.  Ligament pain is still an issue but I ordered a belly support band so I hope that will help out!

Belly button in or out? FLAT.

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or moody most of the time: Pretty consistent. I'm getting a little overwhelmed with the millions of things left to do, but other than that, I have been happy and excited.

Looking forward to: Interviewing  a pediatrician tomorrow!

We have baby registries at Target and Amazon! (for those of you who have asked)

I finally finishd my nursery mobile, and in the process I made an exta one that is now for sale in my etsy shop! >>CLICK HERE<<

  • 28 Week Pregnancy Update

    How far along? 28 weeks!

Total weight gain/measurements: 124 lbs, I am supposed to gain about a pound a week from now on!

Maternity clothes: Its getting hard to wear any of my pre-pregnancy clothes. Up until now I have been getting away with stretchy shirts and tank tops, but my belly is so big, it sticks out on the bottom. So I think I am going to buy a belly band because I am not really into spending money on "maternity" tops. With the exception of pants, of course! I have a few pairs of maternity leggings and yoga pants which have been amazing!

Stretch marks? Not yet! I have been using sweet almond oil twice a day.

Sleep: Movement has picked up this past week and I can feel him all at hours, his little squirms don't keep my up yet. BUT my back pains have!

Best moment this week:  Getting his closet put together. I am a freak for organization and Phil built the perfect closet system so let the OCD organizing begin!! :)

We also reserved our "mom and pop" car at the Subaru dealership this week! We had some custom requests (of course) so we should have our new ride mid-Feb! We are SOOOO excited!

Miss anything? The 2nd trimester. LOL. It was SUCH an easy 3 months! As soon as I passed over that third trimester mark, it felt like everything changed! I became bigger, more tired, more moody and just NOT comfortable.

Movement: I love my little ninja! I just started reading in to baby mapping. I kind of don't get it, but I THINK he might be sideways?!?! I have the bulge on the right side of my belly button or where my belly button USED to be, so either thats his little (or big, like his father hehe) head or his bum. BUT when I went to my 28 week OB appointment, she found his heart at the bottom of my belly. UGH, I don't even know! I am just going to ask her next time. lol

    Food cravings: slurpee!

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing new. Still can't stand Old Bay or popcorn (barf!!)

Gender: IT'S A BOY!!!!!!! My Moy Boy <3

Symptoms: Now that I am well into the third trimester, things are def different. As mentioned above, I am mad uncomfortable because I am getting so round, and my tiny upper body is having trouble supporting so much extra weight. I am much more tired this week and could literally sleep for days!!!! But I have too much to do for all of that.

Up until this week, I have had a pain-free pregnancy. I noticed some cramping and abdomen pains the other day and LOST MY SHIT! I though I may have been going into preterm labor which is my nightmare! My doc office wasn't open so I called the midwives at the hospital who calmed me right down! They told me to take a Tylenol and pop a heating pad only lower tummy for 5 minutes. I did just that and relaxed for the rest of they day, while my amazing baby daddy went out and got my crabby ass a slurpee, a snickers bar and Chinese take out. Everything a pregnant girl could want.

Belly button in or out? In, but just barely. Its pretty much flat at this point.. NOT CUTE but whatever.

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or moody most of the time: I've been happy but my tolerance for anything relating to an animal in pain will ruin my entire day. We are talking tears for HOURS. Usually I let it out for a minute and I am done, still sad, but no more tears. Not the case now. I will literally cry for hours if I see an animal in pain or being abused. :(

Looking forward to: The baby shower, our new car and finishing up a few of my diy projects!

We have baby registries at Target and Amazon! (for those of you who have asked)

  • 25-27 Week Pregnancy Update Plus Maternity Photos and Sneak Peak at My DIY Nursery Mobile

The last few weeks have been super busy with planning for the New Year, designing my 2014 book and the millions of DIY projects I get myself into because of my nesting addiction, I am updating you all on weeks 25, 26 and 27! >.< sorry!

    How far along? 27 weeks!

Total weight gain/measurements: 122 lbs, I am supposed to gain about a pound a week from now on!

Maternity clothes: Can I just live in pajamas?

Stretch marks? Not yet! I have been using sweet almond oil twice a day and I love how smooth and healthy my bump has been... minus the oily hands afterwards ;)

Sleep: A few nights of insomnia, a few nights of restless legs and a few nights of being sick with a cold…. so sleep the past 3 weeks has been GREAT! (sike) But that is OK, I suppose I am preparing myself for many sleepless nights.

Best moment this week:  Since I am combining the last 3 weeks there are a few "best moments".

Crafting with my friends and throwing a killer NYE party!

Phil and I had a mini maternity photo session with our good buddy, Ross! Emily totally took over the shoot, but we still ended up with some adorable photos. (See below)

Baby Shower planning!!! I have a wonderful group of girlfriends and my mother in law helping out and I couldn't be more excited or grateful! This party is going to be so much fun! We have a LOT to do before March 7th!

Entering into the third trimester!!!! YAAY!!!! Getting close!

Miss anything? I have had a few moments of missing my pre-pregnancy body. Its hard to go from being so small to gaining over 20 pounds, not fitting into anything and having your skin stretch. BUT these little moments quickly go away when I feel him kick or when I think about how much I love him and  how I want to be the best parent I can be for him.

Movement: He's a ninja! Kicking away at mommy's ribs, organs and bladder. This kid is def going to be enrolled in Muay Thai!

Food cravings: Milkshakes and Banh Mi sammiches

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing new. Still can't stand Old Bay or popcorn (barf!!)

Gender: IT'S A BOY!!!!!!! My Moy Boy <3

Symptoms: Now that I am into my third trimester, I am starting to feel a couple first trimester symptoms again. Forever sleepy, ouchy boobs and little episodes of feeling nauseous. Its definitely not as bad as the first trimester, but what they say is true. The second trimester is a breeze and by far the most "normal" feeling. I feel VERY pregnant now.

I also have had a few reeeeallly scary moments where I was out in public, usually alone… my body starts to sweat and I am cold. I feel like I am running out of breath and I get dizzy. It feels like a faint it about to come on and I start to freak out. Usually if I do not do something about it, I will end up on the floor, which is never a good thing, especially when you are pregnant. Sitting down with THE coldest water you could imagine, cool air,  taking heavy clothes (jacket, sweater, shoes) off and breathing will usually calm me down. But it takes a good 15 minutes to be able to function again.

I've been anemic my whole life so this feeling isn't exactly new to me, but its not something I face often. I have been taking iron supplements every day, but I have a feeling my dosage is going to change after my next blood test, which is tomorrow, so we will see!

Belly button in or out? In!

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or moody most of the time: Very happy, happy, emotional, and moments of crazy here and there.

Looking forward to: The baby shower!!!

We have baby registries at Target and Amazon! (for those of you who have asked)

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE MOYS!! Pipe-cleaner crowns tutorial >>> HERE

Sneak Peak at my Woodland nursery mobile. I hope to finish this up by next week!

  • 24 Week Pregnancy Update Plus Our Family Christmas Photo & Lovely Gifts From Friends

    How far along? 24 weeks!

    Total weight gain/measurements: 117 lbs!

Maternity clothes: I can't squeeze this bump in normal panty-hoes anymore.. thats pretty obvious. But finding a pair of maternity hoes to go with my "bell shaped NYE dress" that aren't as thick as 4 layers of skin seems to be impossible.. or maybe I am not looking in the right places?

Maternity bras have happened and I am SO much happier!

Stretch marks? Not yet! I have been using sweet almond oil twice a day and I love how smooth and healthy my bump has been... minus the oily hands afterwards ;)

Sleep: Pregnancy insomnia was a little better this week. We wash our sheets every weekend and Sunday nights are always the best night's sleep!I have found that reading a book instead of being on Pinterest or Youtube before bed, helps me fall asleep, and stay comfortably asleep. Not a genius discovery, but I finally caved and put the phone down! Also, can we talk about Target's SUUUUPER cheap basic pillows for a second?! They are like $4 each and are THE MOST COMFORTABLE PILLOWS EVER! I can't be bothered with my pregnancy pillow anymore, its too big. Target pillows are my jam!

Best moment this week:  Christmas was lovely! Phil got me a Panasonic LX7 Lumix camera so we can capture our little family!

    Miss anything? Nope.

Movement: Kicks for days! He is SO active. I love the little schedule he has made for himself. He isn't keeping me up at night yet, so I am pretty thrilled about that.

    Food cravings: Everything.

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing new. Still can't stand Old Bay or popcorn (barf!!)

    Gender: IT'S A BOY!!!!!!!

    Symptoms: Nothing new

Belly button in or out? In!

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or moody most of the time: Pretty happy, but a little stressed from the holiday rush.

    Looking forward to: 3rd trimester!

This year's family Chirstmas photo. Emily hated her santa beard, then loved it.

    Docs forever!!!

Beautiful Idiot Clothing sent us THE cutest outfit! A vintage gingham dress and denim shirt were upcycled and turned into denim shorts and a waistcoat. This is going to be his 4th of July outfit. Paired with a little summer fedora.

Sweetest onsie from a lovely friend! Thanks Katie!

  • 23 Week Pregnancy Update Plus Some Other Tid-Bits

    How far along? 23 weeks!

    Total weight gain/measurements: 116 lbs!

Maternity clothes: SO I'm having quite the dilemma trying to find something cute to wear on NYE. I am going to a gold and black themed party so I should have a wide range of options right? NOPE! Because I am picky and think I can still get away with body con dresses, I have created a pretty big mess. I ordered a total of 4 dresses. None of them specifically "maternity".

One, I could't fit over my thigh… yeah, just ONE thigh. Another was just way too baggy, I looked like a black shiny trash bag. The other is meh… but it fits me the best. Its kind of shaped like a bell. Its tight on the top and flares out.  And the last one I am still waiting on. Its a body con dress, so fingers crossed I can squeeze my thighs and bump into it and still look cute.

I need maternity bras like now. My once manageable chest area is now in desperate need of support!

Stretch marks? No. Burts Bees Mama Belly Butter every day and lots of H2O!

    Sleep: Pregnancy insomnia. That's all.

Best moment this week:  We got our stroller! We had a collection of coupons that saved us a TON of money. We have been obsessed with the Britax B-Agile 4 since before we ever became pregnant and we finally have it!!

    Miss anything? Nope.

Movement: TONS of kicks and I am pretty sure he dragged his finger nail across my tummy the other day. That wasn't pleasant.

    Food cravings: Cantaloupe

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing new. Still can't stand Old Bay or popcorn (barf!!)

    Gender: IT'S A BOY!!!!!!!

    Symptoms: Pregnancy insomnia! UGH!

Belly button in or out? In!

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or moody most of the time: Mostly happy. Had a couple days where I didn't feel like myself which was odd. I was irritated and grumpy at everything. Not cute.

    Looking forward to: Christmas!

    Our stoller!! IN LOVE!

Messy but my first little crocheted bear beanie for my little dude <3

  • The Second Trimester | Survival and Must Haves

The 2nd trimester has been such a breeze! Nausea has subsided, and I am full of energy! The biggest changes are with my comfort level and the state of my body.

Now that I am in the 3rd trimester, I created a list of few items that are now considered "must haves", as they have really helped me survive all of the changes baby and I have been going through.

    Victoria's Secret No-Show Cheekster Panties

These are SO comfortable and don't press awkwardly on your belly! Being a some what full-butt panty AND a seamless cut makes them perfect for leggings or tight pants. "Maternity" panties can be super gross and frumpy! NOT sexy! These are quite the opposite. They are flattering, soft and still sexy! I bought 5 for $28 and had TONS of lovely colors to choose from!  www.victoriassecret.com

    Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm

I've noticed that my lips are just a MESS! They are dry and flaky and not something I can deal can tolerate. With a combination of the cold weather and whatever part of pregnancy that is sucking all the moister out of my lips, I needed to find a solution.  I tried a few different lip treatments and the only one to truly helped was Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm. I use it at night before I got to bed and if I am going to be out in the cold. My lips are so soft and no longer look like I took a cheese grater to them THANK GOODNESS! EW!  www.burtsbees.com

Dove Sensitive Skin Nourishing Body Wash

As expected, my skin HATES me while pregnant! Well, most of the time. I have noticed that "pregnancy acne" has been a frequent visitor on my face, usually ALL OVER my chin and jaw line. Pimple ointment is a no-no while pregnant so I had find a safe alternative!  I started using a soapless cleanser on my face by Dove. After a few days, I noticed a HUUUUGE change! My spots started to clear up and my skin is now the smoothest its ever been! Its not dry or oily! I get occasional blemishes which is normal but nothing like it was.

Bringing up Bebe, by Pamela Druckerman

A friend recommended this book to me. I read 3 sentences offered in an Amazon preview and I was immediately hooked! This book is wonderful! No, I am not French… but I DO respect the way they raise their children. This book is hilarious and really makes you wonder how off track we have gotten with using plain common sense while raising children. I don't want to give too much away, but do yourself a favor and read the preview here

Sweet Almond Oil with Vitamin E

As mentioned in Bringing Up Bebe as being a stretch mark lifesaver, I HAD to give it a shot. Its oil (duh) so it takes some time to rub into your skin and you have to wash your hands for like 10 minutes afterward but my tummy (and bewbs) stay moisturized all day long! The smell is also much more manageable than my Burt's Bees Belly Butter. I hope this helps keep those stretch marks away! Find it on amazon.

  • 22 Week Update Plus our Registry and Gifts from Wolfkitten Apparel and Lovey Fawn!

    How far along? 22 weeks!

Total weight gain/measurements: Now at 115 lbs!

Maternity clothes: I found a few new pairs of warm leggings from Motherhood along with JEGGINGS! OMG! I never thought in a million years I would buy freaking jeggings! BUT regular jeans are just so uncomfortable and look weird on me so whatever! I will deal with them, for now haha! I also found a really great pair of yoga leggings at Target. They are tight but still comfy!

Oh and one of my favorite shirts no longer covers my belly, so I need a belly band ASAP!

Stretch marks? No. Burts Bees Mama Belly Butter every day and lots of H2O!

Sleep: Sleep has been pretty good. There was one night where I did not fall sleep until 3am because I wanted a brownie.

Best moment this week:  Now that we know we are having a little boy, I was able to put together a registry! It took hours but I am so relieved I know how everything I need organized and linked! OCD much? -_- I also received a few baby gifts from really wonderful companies. Will get into that below!

    Miss anything? MORE SEAFOOD!

Movement: Kicks for days! I love it!

Food cravings: Brownies and NERDS! I ate Phil's stocking stuffer (which was a box of Nerds so I need to re-purchase that)

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing new. Still can't stand Old Bay or popcorn (barf!!)

    Gender: BOY BOY BOY!!!

Symptoms: Little man has been resting on my bladder likes its his own personal water bed, so I have been having to pee even more than usual! So like every 3 minutes.

Belly button in or out? In! But I can see the full interior of my belly button, which is a first…

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy days, anxious days and one leave me alone day!

Looking forward to: Working on the nursery!

  • 20 Week Pregnancy Update Plus Gender Reveal! Its a...!!!!

How far along? 20 weeks! HALF WAY THERE!! Weeee!

Total weight gain/measurements: Now at 114 lbs! Heck yes! The belly is getting big!

Maternity clothes: Desperate for some new clothes! My fleece lined maternity leggings are cute and all, BUT they are starting to get pills EVERYWHERE which is so gross and up kept looking. So no dice on those. I need to find a new legging that doesn't do that but keeps my stems warm and toasty while comfortably hugging my growing belly!

Stretch marks? No. Burts Bees Mama Belly Butter every day and lots of H2O!

Sleep: Sleep has been OK this week. I've managed to keep comfy. BUT since this last week had been so crazy exciting, there were a couple nights where it was hard to fall asleep.

Best moment this week:  Telling our friends and family the big gender news on Thanksgiving!

    Miss anything? Not really.

Movement: Kicks for days! I love it!

Food cravings: Mashed potatoes and gravy.

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing new. Still can't stand Old Bay or popcorn (barf!!)

    Gender: IT'S A BOY!!!!!!!

Symptoms: Restless legs (thanks to Phil for the leg massages!)  as well as a lovely cold just days before Thanksgiving. Pregnancy pretty much kills your immune system and not being able to take medicine prolongs whatever sickness is picked up. Luckily, my stuffy nose and sore throat went away (mostly) after a couple days and I was able to enjoy Thanksgiving!

Belly button in or out? In!

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or moody most of the time: Pretty happy all week long!

Looking forward to: Getting the house cozy for Christmas ad SHOPPING for a baby boy!!!! There are SO many adorable boy outfits out there, I JUST CAN'T!! <3

    8 Weeks | 16 Weeks | 20 Weeks

My little "its a..." DIY gender reveal box! I found this idea on Pinterest and though it was THE cutest idea ever!

I sent a couple of boxes to out-of-state family. We facetimed them while they opened it!

  • 19 Week Pregnancy Update Plus a Little Bit About Our 20 Week Appointment!

    How far along? 19 weeks!

Total weight gain/measurements: Now at 111 lbs! Woohoo!!

Maternity clothes: I am at that point where my old clothes just don't fit. I went to a lovely event at the National Cathedral with some gal pals this passed Monday and was faced with the task of dressing up without a single "maternity" dress or skirt. Its full on winter here in Washington DC, so it also had to be warm! After turning my closet upside down I found a black high waisted midi skirt that I had to pull up under my boobs in order to zip.  I paired that with a cropped black sweater (with a faux leather peter pan collar) that couldn't be tucked in to my skirt so ended up tucking it under my bra and folding it over so skin didn't show. I guess it worked but it was a little uncomfortable. I am a petite person, especially up top so finding something that is not gigantic (that not basic long-sleeved shirts) is going to be hard.

    Stretch marks? No.

Sleep: Good nights and bad… VERY bad nights.  My legs have been crazy restless recently! NO bueno! Yesterday we found out the gender of our baby, I was so excited I didn't sleep a wink and I think baby was excited too because it was kicking all night long. I am also getting a cold so breathing was an issue. -_-

Best moment this week:  Finding out that we are having a …….!!!! Can't tell until Thanksgiving! But OMG we are so happy and so madly in love with this child! We had a whole 45 minutes to look at our baby so the sonographer could measure all the baby's parts. Everything was perfect! <3

Miss anything? I was a little sore this week and the cold weather is a little bummy so I am missing a hot tub right about now! Oh how amazing would that be!!!! *dreaming*

Movement: Someone is doing karate in my tummy! Lots of kicks!

Food cravings: Back to watermelon and ice water of course!

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing new. Still can't stand Old Bay or popcorn (barf!!)

Gender: ITS A …….! (Will let everyone know on Thanksgiving!)

Symptoms: My legs are so restless its not even funny! I can't stretch enough!

Belly button in or out? In!

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy and excited all week with the exception of one moody day where I just wanted to sleep and listen to Lana Del Rey!

Looking forward to: Telling our family the sex of our baby right before Thanksgiving dinner (some via phone, FaceTime or text) I am also sending a little reveal box to my grandmother and brother in Florida to open via FaceTime so we can see their reactions. I will post photos of our reveal next week!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all! I have so much to be thankful for! We were blessed in SO many ways this year!

Right after finding out the sex! SO HAPPY AND EXCITED!!

  • 18 Week Pregnancy Update, Gender Prediction and Beautiful Nursery Goodies from Honey and the Hive!!

    How far along? 18 weeks!

Total weight gain/measurements: Now at 108 lbs!!

Maternity clothes: I haven't bought anything maternity specific this week. Still rocking my maternity leggings and basic tees. Even though i'm not in love with jeans, I was thinking about getting a pair so I don't look the exact same ever single day. lol

    Stretch marks? No.

Sleep: I have had good days and bad days this week. Some nights I fit perfectly in my maternity noodle and sleep like a baby, other nights are somewhat nightmarish. No matter what I do, I can't get comfortable.

Best moment this week:  First kick! It was so cute! Having a tattoo on my tummy makes it a  little easier to see movement too. But this baby is kicking away in there! Phil got to feel it for the first time this week, it was pretty special <3

    Miss anything? Not really.

    Movement: Kicks!

Food cravings: chipotle cilantro lime rice!!! And Ice water forever!

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing new. Still can't stand Old Bay or popcorn (barf!!)

Gender: Wed, Nov. 19th is THE day!! But I won't be revealing anything until Thanksgiving!!

Symptoms: Peeing all of the time. I have been getting light headed more often. I had what felt like a mini panic attack last weekend while waiting to be seated for lunch. I got hot, cold and sweaty all at the same time. I needed a seat and a huge glass of ice water.

Belly button in or out? In!

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy and excited all week!

Looking forward to: Finding out if this little baby is a boy or girl!! Phil and I have opposite predications which is pretty fun! One of us WILL BE RIGHT!! What do you think it is? Leave your guess in the comment box below!! <3

Beautiful artwork for the nursery from my friend Honey and the Hive! She is one talented soul! Please go check her out!!

  • 17 Week Update & Bump Photo/Halloween Costume and My Own Newborn Photo!

    (Halloween costume! Mama cat)

    How far along? 17 weeks!

Total weight gain/measurements: Gained 1 pound this week! I am at 106 lbs now!

Maternity clothes: I've been obsessed with H&M Basic long sleeve shirts. They are comfy, simple and stretch a ton. I am going to try and get away with wearing these as long as possible!

    Stretch marks? No.

Sleep: Sleep has been GLORIOUS this week.  Except waking up every single morning at 4:30 to pee.

Best moment this week:  We are planning a pretty cute gender reveal! I can't wait!! Also baby flutters are starting to get intense and I am pretty sure kicks will be happening soon! My boobs stopped hurting! Weeee!!!

    Miss anything? Not really.

    Movement: Flutters!

    Food cravings: Doritos

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing new. Still can't stand Old Bay or popcorn (barf!!)

Gender: Will find out in the next few weeks!

Symptoms: Peeing all of the time!

Belly button in or out? In!

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy and excited all week!

Looking forward to: Sonogram appointment in a few weeks to find out if we have a boy or girl!!

This photo was sent to me last week. Just a couple of hours old. May 18, 1985. (There! Now everyone knows how old I am, lol) I was SO red!

  • 16 Week Pregnancy Update, Bump Photos and Baby Moccasins from Wild Darlings

    How far along? 16 weeks!

Total weight gain/measurements: Weighed in at 105 this week. 6 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight. My baby bump is growing pretty fast now! Thank goodness! I no longer look like I just ate too much cake!

Maternity clothes: I can still get away with wearing my yoga pants, but they are starting to get a little uncomfortable. They stop mid-belly which causes pressure when I sit, so I don't think they will be in my wardrobe for much longer. I did however find the most comfortable "maternity" leggings ever from Motherhood! So far I have 2 pair, one in gray which goes under the belly, and the other in black which goes over. Both I will be able to wear post pregnancy! I will definitely need to get more!

I also have been wearing the BEST undies! They aren't maternity specific either! They are the "No Show" panty from Victoria's Secret! No harsh band, just simple, comfy and easy to grown in.

    Stretch marks? No.

Sleep: Most nights are ok and I sleep pretty sound throughout the night. There have been a few nights where I just can't find a position I like and my pregnancy pillow becomes a life saver!

Best moment this week: Finally felt baby flutters! At first, it was hard to tell if it was gas or baby. >.<

    Miss anything? Spicy tuna rolls!

    Movement: Flutters!

Food cravings: All of the sweets! Plus, raw green peppers and I literally CAN'T drink enough ice water! Omg, just thinking about it makes me happy!

Anything making you queasy or sick? My prenatal gummy vitamins are hard to chew and swallow sometimes. Old Bay and popcorn became my enemy during the first trimester, so even just thinking about them, make me want to throw up. I hope that changes!! Being a DC girl, I HAVE to have my Old Bay!

Gender: Will find out in the next few weeks! (i hope)

Symptoms: Now that I am well into my second trimester, I feel a bit normal! I am no longer constantly nauseous or fighting to keep my eyes open, which is GREAT! But, a few new symptoms have developed that I am less than fond of. I get winded really easily. Sometimes a little light headed and I have to lay down for a minute. It usually passes after a few minutes but it can be a little scary. I've gotten heartburn a couple of times. Nothing crippling, and a ginger drop usually cures that mess right away.

Belly button in or out? In!

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or moody most of the time: Usually I am really good at controlling my moods, but I have surrendered and let my pregnancy hormones do their "thing". Most of the time I am super happy, but there have been a few days where my temper will get the best of me, or I will get super sad and cry at just about anything. The other day I found a praying mantis outside my house, I kept crying because his eyes were so far apart. NOT normal! Thank goodness my husband still loves me!

Looking forward to: Apple picking this weekend! Apples pies and homemade apple butter here I come!

    13 Weeks!

    15 Weeks!

From cake belly to looking pregnant! YAY! :D

Wild Darlings sent baby the cutest pair of moccasins! Hand made and just lovely! Thanks!

  • The First Trimester | 13 Week update

We saw baby today during a sonogram appointment! The last time we saw him/her they were the size of a little bean and did not resemble a baby at all.

As soon as the ultrasound began, baby was bouncing all over the place. PARTY TIME!  I couldn't believe how much they had grown over the past 6 weeks! It melted my heart to see these little tiny hands flailing all over place and its little body squirming around. Thats our baby!!! I am in absolute love!

We even got a hint as to what the gender might be! Nothing confirmed so I wont be revealing that yet! ;)

Here a couple photos from the sonogram.

The first trimester wasn't a walk in the park, but it wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. I was basically nauseous all day, especially at night. I didn't throw up, not even once. But there were times I felt like it.

I developed a love/hate relationship with food. Foods that I once loved (Old Bay, popcorn, tomatoes) made me feel like death. I turned into such a picky eater. Ginger Ale and Tummydrops helped a lot, as well as a TON of water. Recently, the nausea has died down tremendously and I feel somewhat normal again.

Sleeping went from not being an issue to being super uncomfortable. I got a sleep pillow and all was right in sleep world!

My clothes are starting to get uncomfortable so I am living in yoga pants, oversized tshirts and hoodies. I bought my first pair of maternity leggings last week and there is no going back. These things are a life saver and I will be able to wear them as I grow.

We are very eager to get the nursery going so rug, crib and dresser are already in place! Now to find the perfect glider! I plan on sitting in my glider A LOT so it has to be comfy!

That is pretty much it! BYE first trimester! Thanks for not killing me!

  • Lives are changing!

We are so excited to finally announce our big news! Phil and I are having a baby! Our dream has come true and come April we will be parents! We couldn't be more excited to expand our little family of 3 (including Emily) to 4!

NYC photographer and good friend, Ross Thompson photographed these lovely announcement photos for us. (Location: Old Town, Va.) Check out his work here! Thanks Ross!!

Almost 8 years ago, shortly after Phil and I met, we came across the cutest little baby Vans shoes! I don't even know why, but we bought them. They traveled with us to 7 different homes and 4 different states. Who knew they would actually be apart of our announcement photos so many years later!? Clearly we will be a Vans wearing family. LOL.
