  • 16 Week Pregnancy Update, Bump Photos and Baby Moccasins from Wild Darlings

    How far along? 16 weeks!

    Total weight gain/measurements: Weighed in at 105 this week. 6 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight. My baby bump is growing pretty fast now! Thank goodness! I no longer look like I just ate too much cake! 

    Maternity clothes: I can still get away with wearing my yoga pants, but they are starting to get a little uncomfortable. They stop mid-belly which causes pressure when I sit, so I don't think they will be in my wardrobe for much longer. I did however find the most comfortable "maternity" leggings ever from Motherhood! So far I have 2 pair, one in gray which goes under the belly, and the other in black which goes over. Both I will be able to wear post pregnancy! I will definitely need to get more! 

    I also have been wearing the BEST undies! They aren't maternity specific either! They are the "No Show" panty from Victoria's Secret! No harsh band, just simple, comfy and easy to grown in. 

    Stretch marks? No. 

    Sleep: Most nights are ok and I sleep pretty sound throughout the night. There have been a few nights where I just can't find a position I like and my pregnancy pillow becomes a life saver! 

    Best moment this week: Finally felt baby flutters! At first, it was hard to tell if it was gas or baby. >.<

    Miss anything? Spicy tuna rolls! 

    Movement: Flutters!

    Food cravings: All of the sweets! Plus, raw green peppers and I literally CAN'T drink enough ice water! Omg, just thinking about it makes me happy!  

    Anything making you queasy or sick? My prenatal gummy vitamins are hard to chew and swallow sometimes. Old Bay and popcorn became my enemy during the first trimester, so even just thinking about them, make me want to throw up. I hope that changes!! Being a DC girl, I HAVE to have my Old Bay! 

    Gender: Will find out in the next few weeks! (i hope)

    Symptoms: Now that I am well into my second trimester, I feel a bit normal! I am no longer constantly nauseous or fighting to keep my eyes open, which is GREAT! But, a few new symptoms have developed that I am less than fond of. I get winded really easily. Sometimes a little light headed and I have to lay down for a minute. It usually passes after a few minutes but it can be a little scary. I've gotten heartburn a couple of times. Nothing crippling, and a ginger drop usually cures that mess right away. 

    Belly button in or out? In!

    Wedding rings on or off? On!

    Happy or moody most of the time: Usually I am really good at controlling my moods, but I have surrendered and let my pregnancy hormones do their "thing". Most of the time I am super happy, but there have been a few days where my temper will get the best of me, or I will get super sad and cry at just about anything. The other day I found a praying mantis outside my house, I kept crying because his eyes were so far apart. NOT normal! Thank goodness my husband still loves me!  

    Looking forward to: Apple picking this weekend! Apples pies and homemade apple butter here I come!

  • The First Trimester | 13 Week update

    We saw baby today during a sonogram appointment! The last time we saw him/her they were the size of a little bean and did not resemble a baby at all.

    As soon as the ultrasound began, baby was bouncing all over the place. PARTY TIME!  I couldn't believe how much they had grown over the past 6 weeks! It melted my heart to see these little tiny hands flailing all over place and its little body squirming around. Thats our baby!!! I am in absolute love! 

    We even got a hint as to what the gender might be! Nothing confirmed so I wont be revealing that yet! ;)

    The first trimester wasn't a walk in the park, but it wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. I was basically nauseous all day, especially at night. I didn't throw up, not even once. But there were times I felt like it.

    I developed a love/hate relationship with food. Foods that I once loved (Old Bay, popcorn, tomatoes) made me feel like death. I turned into such a picky eater. Ginger Ale and Tummydrops helped a lot, as well as a TON of water. Recently, the nausea has died down tremendously and I feel somewhat normal again.

    Sleeping went from not being an issue to being super uncomfortable. I got a sleep pillow and all was right in sleep world!

    My clothes are starting to get uncomfortable so I am living in yoga pants, oversized tshirts and hoodies. I bought my first pair of maternity leggings last week and there is no going back. These things are a life saver and I will be able to wear them as I grow.

    We are very eager to get the nursery going so rug, crib and dresser are already in place! Now to find the perfect glider! I plan on sitting in my glider A LOT so it has to be comfy!

    That is pretty much it! BYE first trimester! Thanks for not killing me!
