  • Last Minute Father's Day Gifts Under $30

Is it just me or are spring/summer pure chaos?! We are trying to get outside more, there's yard maintenance, birthdays, vacations, endless house chores... the list never ends. I usually find myself looking for easy but awesome gifts that Dad will actually like and don't involve expedited shipping... because I CAN'T with expedited shipping!

Here are two tested and approved (by Dad) gift ideas that you can put together RIGHT NOW!

A rustic beer crate full of an assortment of refreshing craft beers.

Beer crate is from Home Goods ($12.99). I love that it has a built in bottle opener! The beers I chose are mostly local, that way if Dad really likes them, he can spend a day at the brewery!

    A personal whiskey tasting sampler

Find a nice glass jar that can fit 5-6 miniature bottles. I found this one at Target. You can pick whatever you think Dad will enjoy. Add a tag and DONE! I've made these for Christmas and birthdays as well, and they are always a hit!

Happy Father's Day to all the rad Dads out there! If you end up using one of these ideas for Father's Day, or any occasion, let me know! I would love to see what you come up with!

  • The Cheapest DIY Ever | Yarn Wall Hanging

I have been on a bit of a hiatus from blogging as life with a toddler has proven to be fun but oh soooo exhausting. A Camden update is coming soon but in the mean time, here's a little tutorial for you!

Have some yarn hanging around? Use it to make a rad wall hanging for any room in your house! This little DIY literally would have cost me $.69 (price of the wooden dowel)  but I has a specific color scheme in mind. I guarantee you can do this for $3 or less and in under an hour!

Here is what you will need:

    A wooden dowel

    Yarn

    Hanging string or thread

    Scissors

    Ruler

    Nail

    Here is what you do:

Cut your dowel to however long you want your wall hanging.

Cut even strands of yarn, however many you need to fill up the space on your dowel. Each piece will be doubled so keep that in mind.

Tie each piece of yarn to the dowel using the larks head knot.  You can google how to do this but its super easy! Here is a little diagram so you get the idea:

    Source: zpacks.com

Repeat until you fill up however much space you want on your dowel. Leave an even amount of space on each side.

Use a ruler or whatever tool you want to cut the bottom. I chose to a triangle but you can do anything you want.

Attach your hanging string or thread to the dowel evenly on each side.

Find a cute wall to hang and enjoy!

  • Camden Turns The Wild One!

After months of planning for Camden’s first birthday party the big day finally arrived! We were so excited to celebrate with our friends, family and the newest one year old on the block! The big day came quicker than I had ever imagined and I’m not going to lie, there were moments I couldn’t control the emotions. My baby is growing up so fast and I can barley keep up! It feels like just yesterday we were bringing our little bundle home to start a new life together. *teeears* Oh what an intense and amazing year it has been! A big sappy blog post on motherhood and our first year as bffs coming next week!

Camden’s party was Pow-Wow/Tribal themed which meant tons of fun DIY projects for this crazy-crafting mama. I had saved several decorations from the baby shower which happened to be somewhat of the same color scheme so I was able to upcycle and reuse some. YAAAAS!

In between naps after setting up and throughout all of the excitement I was able to capture a few detail shots and candid moments from the party.

  • DIY Card Ideas for Any Occasion

I am one of those people who gets overly excited for paper-goods… especially cards.. especial hand-made cards! It’s a easy and cheap way to treat someone with something special and sentimental.

I made Valentines and Valentine’s Day cards but you can make any card you want for any occasion.

    Materials:

    Scissors

    Washi tape

Alphabet Stamps (I got this set at Michael’s for $1.50)

Ink Pad (or a Sharpie will due)

Blank Cards with Envelopes (I got a pack of 12 for $1.50 at Michaels)

*Optional* Photos (these were printed at Costco)

*Optional* Stickers (felt stickers are from Michaels)

  • DIY Burp Cloths

I came across a super adorable tutorial on Pinterest for DIY burp cloths or spit up rags. I just HAD to make my own! I searched for a lovely fabric made of organic cotton on Etsy and came across these two patterns that Ioved! Initially I had gotten minky cloth to use as well but when I began to work with it, I HATED IT and I did not see it being all that absorbent so I went with a simple soft terry cloth.

    You will need:

1 yard of terry cloth (prewashed)

1 yard of patterned fabric (prewashed)

    Thread to match

Step One: Cut a rectangle 10x18" out of both the terry cloth and the patterned fabric.

Step Two: Sew the two rectangles together, right-sides together, with a 1/2" seam, leaving a 1" opening in the middle of one of the edges.

Step Three: Flip the burp rag right-side out, and topstitch all the way around, including on the opening to close it.

    THE END ALL DONE!

  • Baby "C's" Nursery Reveal Plus Changing Table/Closet Organization

As soon as we found out we were pregnant, we got started on the nursery! It wasn't hard to dream up the perfect vision of a little nest for baby to live and grow in.  As most of you know, Phil and I are hardly traditional so instead of a standard "boy's" room, we went with a theme of things the both of us love. Flowers, animals, vintage elements, art work, typography and calming colors. Its our idea of a perfect little gender neutral nursery!

    Changing table organization:

Top- Diaper Caddy (small amount of NB diapers, hand sanitizer, wipes, diaper rash cream, powder, toy) Changing pad with cover.

First drawer- NB sized diapers, wipes (+extras), wash cloths, socks, burp cloths, scratch mittens, pacifiers, teething tools, first aid kit for a newborn, grooming kit, breast pads, lotion, sunscreen.

Second Drawer- Sorted by size- short-sleeved onesies, pjs & shoes

Third Drawer- Hooded towels, bibs/burp cloths, swaddles, receiving blankets, extra changing pad cover.

Clothes separated according to size/age. Small Laundry basket, "too small bin" sliding cube bins containing hats, baby carriers, toys etc. Books were giving in place of cards from friends and family.

  • 25-27 Week Pregnancy Update Plus Maternity Photos and Sneak Peak at My DIY Nursery Mobile

The last few weeks have been super busy with planning for the New Year, designing my 2014 book and the millions of DIY projects I get myself into because of my nesting addiction, I am updating you all on weeks 25, 26 and 27! >.< sorry!

    How far along? 27 weeks!

Total weight gain/measurements: 122 lbs, I am supposed to gain about a pound a week from now on!

Maternity clothes: Can I just live in pajamas?

Stretch marks? Not yet! I have been using sweet almond oil twice a day and I love how smooth and healthy my bump has been... minus the oily hands afterwards ;)

Sleep: A few nights of insomnia, a few nights of restless legs and a few nights of being sick with a cold…. so sleep the past 3 weeks has been GREAT! (sike) But that is OK, I suppose I am preparing myself for many sleepless nights.

Best moment this week:  Since I am combining the last 3 weeks there are a few "best moments".

Crafting with my friends and throwing a killer NYE party!

Phil and I had a mini maternity photo session with our good buddy, Ross! Emily totally took over the shoot, but we still ended up with some adorable photos. (See below)

Baby Shower planning!!! I have a wonderful group of girlfriends and my mother in law helping out and I couldn't be more excited or grateful! This party is going to be so much fun! We have a LOT to do before March 7th!

Entering into the third trimester!!!! YAAY!!!! Getting close!

Miss anything? I have had a few moments of missing my pre-pregnancy body. Its hard to go from being so small to gaining over 20 pounds, not fitting into anything and having your skin stretch. BUT these little moments quickly go away when I feel him kick or when I think about how much I love him and  how I want to be the best parent I can be for him.

Movement: He's a ninja! Kicking away at mommy's ribs, organs and bladder. This kid is def going to be enrolled in Muay Thai!

Food cravings: Milkshakes and Banh Mi sammiches

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing new. Still can't stand Old Bay or popcorn (barf!!)

Gender: IT'S A BOY!!!!!!! My Moy Boy <3

Symptoms: Now that I am into my third trimester, I am starting to feel a couple first trimester symptoms again. Forever sleepy, ouchy boobs and little episodes of feeling nauseous. Its definitely not as bad as the first trimester, but what they say is true. The second trimester is a breeze and by far the most "normal" feeling. I feel VERY pregnant now.

I also have had a few reeeeallly scary moments where I was out in public, usually alone… my body starts to sweat and I am cold. I feel like I am running out of breath and I get dizzy. It feels like a faint it about to come on and I start to freak out. Usually if I do not do something about it, I will end up on the floor, which is never a good thing, especially when you are pregnant. Sitting down with THE coldest water you could imagine, cool air,  taking heavy clothes (jacket, sweater, shoes) off and breathing will usually calm me down. But it takes a good 15 minutes to be able to function again.

I've been anemic my whole life so this feeling isn't exactly new to me, but its not something I face often. I have been taking iron supplements every day, but I have a feeling my dosage is going to change after my next blood test, which is tomorrow, so we will see!

Belly button in or out? In!

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or moody most of the time: Very happy, happy, emotional, and moments of crazy here and there.

Looking forward to: The baby shower!!!

We have baby registries at Target and Amazon! (for those of you who have asked)

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE MOYS!! Pipe-cleaner crowns tutorial >>> HERE

Sneak Peak at my Woodland nursery mobile. I hope to finish this up by next week!

The journey of my growing belly!
