  • Pregnancy in my 20s vs my 30s | Gender Reveal

Half way there! Woohoo! In a way, I feel like I have been pregnant for everrrr, but at the same time it feels like I was just racing to Target because I had “that feeling”. I am so excited for this little babe to complete our little family! OK, so here is what I have experienced so far. Its not at all what I expected this time!

If you followed my blog while I was pregnant with Camden, you know it was a magical pregnancy. It was easy and amazing. I wasn’t sick, sore, tired or miserable AT ALL. I was so lucky!!
This time, things are very very different. Sure, I am almost 4 years older (not in my 20s anymore WAHHH!!) so I get it, but man… its been brutal and scary at times!

Lets start with the first trimester…
I was so sick. Like could barely eat anything, my tummy always felt like it was turning! Even water made me want to vom! Eventually, the only thing I wanted to eat were caesar salads, pickles, watermelon and smoothies.

Another not so lovely symptom that hit me pretty hard was exhaustion. I was more tired in my first trimester than I was when Camden was a newborn. Peeling myself out of bed felt like torture and when I finally got up, I went straight to the couch. Luckily, Cam is a pretty independent kiddo and just played, drew and read so I could sleep. I don’t know how mamas with a demanding child manage while they are in zombie first trimester mode!

Lets throw a positive in there because I feel like I am bitching too much and there is more bitching to come. I felt my first tummy flutters super early. I think it was like 12 weeks or so I felt him swimming around and by 14 weeks I felt full on kicks! Those little kicks made it feel real, and made me forget about all the agony I was going through. I felt an instant connection and my heart, which was already so full, was about to overflow with love for this child.

Suddenly, I found myself in my second trimester which usually means a relief from morning sickness and exhaustion. I patiently waited for that relief but I was still a hot mess. Distracted my a growing belly (which popped super fast), a few weeks went by and I was feeling like myself again! The weather was getting warmer, here in Charleston, SC and I could finally wear dresses that made me look pregnant and not just full of tacos! I was embracing pregnancy and LOVING IT! Then I started having a difficult time again. I was getting light-headed to the point of almost passing out multiple times a day. Its a pretty scarey feeling especially when you’re alone a lot or its just you and your toddler. I called my OB office and the nurse immediately blamed it on the lack of meat in my diet (eye roll). Obviously, keeping myself healthy for this baby is my priority so I increased my protein intake with alternatives like nuts and beans, as well as increased my iron intake with strawberries, spinach and tofu. These light headed spells aren’t as frequent now so I guess I am doing something right! I have learned to be careful, especially when its hot and humid (so, like everyday here). I’ve noticed my body is trigger by humidity and extremely hot weather so I will be living in AC ally summer long.

OK, lets talk varicose veins for a second. I thought varicose veins came with menopause or something? Certainly not in your early 30s! One day, I randomly noticed the veins in my right leg, around my knee looking pretty upset and more noticable than usual. Naturally, I freaked out and went straight to google to learn that its another very unglamorous symptom of pregnancy especially when you’re older (I hate that word). An Instagram friend who is also pregnant had shared that she too had varicose veins, and had experienced them in previous pregnancies and they went away! So, I immediately felt a little comforted. These bitches hurt and if I stand for too long, they begin to bother the hell out of me. So yay for gross bulgy veins! -_- I ordered compression socks and I am impatiently waiting for them to be delivered!

Currently, I am 24 weeks and feeling extremely large. I was told this baby is big and that my small frame might have difficulties carrying full term but I’m not going to count on that. I think my body will do what its supposed to do and make sure my baby and I are ok.

So, in the mean time I am happily adjusting to being uncomfortable because after all, I am growing a human… I perfect little human and that makes it so so worth everything. I may not be sleeping well and I may be feeling the every pain of my body expanding and making room, but I am so grateful to be pregnant again and I can’t wait to hold this BOY in my arms!

Yup! Another BOY!!!!! I am over the moon to be able to raise another dude! Boys are so special, and my life goal is to raise respectful, smart, polite and hard working men in a world that so desperately needs it. Little Moy Boy has a name, but we are keeping it hush until he is born. All I can say is that it starts with a G! Baby G!

  • Pregnant With Baby #2 | First Trimester

Hi Friends! It’s been ages and I've been wondering when I would finally have the drive to start the blog back up. One of my favorite things to do is make a fresh cup of coffee, sit down and get lost in writing about our life adventures... so I don’t' know why I stopped? Anyways…

So much has happened but lets start with the biggest and most exciting...

WE ARE PREGNANT! Baby is due October 17th and we are over the moon! This little one will complete our family! I cam so excited to have a fall baby, October is my favorite month plus Phil, Camden and I are all born in the Spring/early Summer so it will be nice to have a gap in celebrating birthdays $$$$

Currently, I am 14 weeks and oh so happy to be in the second trimester, as the last couple months have been brutal! Quite the opposite as my first pregnancy, I have been extremely tired and just plain sick. Thankfully, I have been feeling a little less like a cranky zombie and more like a human this week! Woohoo!

Camden is so excited to be a big brother! He has already told me he will help with daiper changes and feedings lol. Some days he talks about how much he loves his baby brother and how they are going to play trucks and some days he says he loves his baby sister soo... I suppose that means he would be happy with either!

    Food Aversions:

The smell of my spice cabinet makes me dry heave, so no thank you.

Meat. Ugh, I cook it for the boys but it’s a battle to not throw up now.

    Food Cravings:

Beer? Uh, this is a weird one for me since I am (was) a wine and cocktails kind of gal. The smell of beer literally makes my mouth water!

    Caesar Salads

Raw Oysters... another thing I can't have (basically I am torturing myself with my cravings)

    Watermelon

    Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches

Pickles (cliché pregnancy craving but OMG… GIMMIE ALL THE PICKLES!)

     Sleep:

My sleep has been all over the place. Some nights I sleep perfectly and others I literally go crazy laying there waiting for the alarm to go off. I have been using my Himalayan salt lamp, which has helped calm my anxiety and turn off my brain.

     Weight Gain:

My pre-pregnancy weight was much more healthier than with Camden. I was 97 lbs. at my first appointment with him, but this time around I came in at 112 lbs. and have gained 1 pound so far. Lets hope I don’t gain FIFTY FREAKING POUNDS again!

     How I Have Been Feeling?

Moods are pretty consistent with random bursts of psycho. I think I have just been too tired to be a total psycho soo that’s cool. LOL

The tears have just started and mostly because I can’t stand that Camden is growing up so fast. I have been watching old videos of him on my phone and I just sob. Like full blown tears streaming down my face and dripping on absolutely everything.

I am a little uncomfortable with my body right now, which I expected. I am starting to get a little bump, which only really fits in high-waisted yoga pants or stuffed under a skirt or dress. Bump also looks like it could be beer belly so I have been embracing allll the flowy shirts!

     Movement?

I did not expect to feel baby until at least 18/20 weeks but at 13 weeks I started feeling little flutters. I went in for an ultrasound and asked about it. Was it just tummy toots or is that my little baby? Apparently, it is totally possible to feel baby as early as 12 weeks with your second baby. So yea, I can already feel my little bean bouncing around.

     Boy or Girl?

We will find out May 21!

     Baby Gear:

I haven’t bought much for baby yet, as we have so much leftover from Camden but I am sure that will change soon. I love baby shopping!

Thank you for reading and more blog posts will be coming soon! I have so much to update you all on!

  • A Day Trip to Burnside Farms | Festival of Spring - Holland in Haymarket, Va.

Holland is known for their magical flower fields that cover the country this time of year. Since a quick trip to Holland isn't an option, the next best thing is just an hour outside of Washington DC in Haymarket, Virginia at Burnside Farms.

We had so much fun at the farm! We picked tulips, ran through the rows and rows of tulips and daffodils, jumped on a giant air pad and played with baby chicks. We got dirty, sweaty and took about a billion photos! I didn't want the day to end. It was such a perfect little day trip for a busy busy toddler!

  • Lily Jade: A Diaper Bag in Disguise and Special Announcement

The amount of stuff that comes along with you and baby on even the smallest of outings is ungodly! But its all necessary..what if he is hungry? I need extra bottles, formula and water. What if he has a blow out? I need enough diapers, wipes and change of clothes! What if he is cold? I need a hoodie and his favorite blanket. What if he doesn’t want to play with Daisy (currently, his favorite toy)? I need to bring a back up. What if it gets super sunny? I need his sun hat and sun screen. The list goes on and by the time you have everything stuffed into your diaper bag, its busting at the seams! Oh, and don’t even bother trying to fish anything out because its impossible, unless you’re lucky enough to find what you need at the top. My life as a mom was about to change.

When Lily Jade contacted me about reviewing one of their diaper bags, I was ecstatic! Of course, I had read and seen Lily Jade bags in magazines, on several mommy blogs and “must have lists”, so I knew I would absolutely adore this bag… this amazing diaper bag in disguise.

You’d never know this beautiful designer bag was stuffed full of blow out essentials and toys for days! The best part is, the chaos that IS a diaper bag is actually capable of being completely organized! One of my absolute favorite features is the removable “Baby Bag” organizer that comes with every Lily Jade bag. I can compartmentalize changing necessities, food, toys and have a separate section for my own things! There are two magnetic snaps that keeps the organizer in place, which also allows it to transform from diaper bag mode to “Mom is going out baby free” mode.

I have the “Madeline” in black which can be worn 3 different ways. Across the chest, on the shoulder and as a backpack! My son, Camden is in that wiggly stage and having our bag strapped to my back and totally out of the way, makes everything SO much easier!

This bag is just wonderful and has changed the way Camden and I go out. Have I convinced you to look into getting your very own Lily Jade diaper bag? I hope so because I have some exciting news!

Who doesn’t love a good giveaway!? I have teamed up with Lily Jade and we are giving away a diaper bag to one lucky Instagram follower. Keep an eye out for my official announcement which will be posted next week on my Instagram!

  • Camden's 4 Month Update

    4 Months

    Weight: 16.5lbs

    Length: 27 inches

    Diaper size: 2

    Clothing size: 6 months

Health: We have our 4 month appointment coming up which means shots :(

Sleep: We attempted to nap-train him in his crib but that didn’t go over very well. He fusses then only sleeps for 30-45 minutes so back to the swing he went. He finally has a pretty set nap routine, although times do vary depending on his energy and mood.

He wakes up at about 7am, and SOMETIMES he will fall back to sleep in bed while nursing. But since he is a pretty solid night sleeper its not every morning. His first naps have been around 10:30-11 and sleep anywhere from 1 hour to 3 hours. NEVER WAKE A SLEEPING BABY- so I let him sleep as much as he wants. He still takes a couple little catnaps here and there but those last only about 20 - 30 minutes. Then around 3:00 he takes his second nap of the day. Wakes up around 4:00-5:00. Bed time feedings start at 8 so he is usually asleep in his crib by 8:30. He still sleeps though the night but teething is happening so I am sure that will change.

We still swaddle him at night but have begun the weaning process. He sleeps with one arm out and doesn’t seems phased at all. Fingers crossed we get the same response when both arms are out!

Diet: Breast milk and formula. We introduced him to apple juice as suggested by his doctor. We noticed discomfort when trying to poop, so we started giving him about 3 oz of diluted apple juiced. It’s been helping a ton! Plus I think the kiddo likes the taste.

Loves: Chewing on everything! Loves to be front facing in his carrier. He is starting to enjoy tummy time which make me a happy mama! Build those neck muscles!

Dislikes: Bath time is still not fun. This keep will NOT be the stinky kid in school who doesn’t bathe so we are buying him a new “tub” which hopefully will help and make him feel better. Still not a fan of the car, although we can get about 10 minutes of silence out of him if we bring all 5 million of his toys with him. :p I think he is getting better with his stroller, he seems to not HATE it. I think thats due to the fact that he can actually see whats in front of him now so he is too distracted by his surroundings to get pissy.

Milestones: He can push his whole upper body up and wiggle in different directions. I will put him down on his playmat, and 2 minutes later he is on the other side. He taught himself to self-sooth with his fingers. He has also started “talking”. Its crazy cute! He has also started playing with his toys. He recognizes the difference and definitely has preferred favorites.

Speech: He will have a full on baby conversation with his toys. I can tell he is going to be a chatter box when he can actually talk. Just like his mama and dada <3

    Baby Gear Love:

    Sophie the giraffe

Infantino Flip Advanced 4 in 1 carrier

  • 29 & 30 Week Pregnancy Update Plus DIY Nursery Mobiles, The Burlap Bag Gifts, Baby Shower Invitation and More

    How far along? 30 weeks

Total weight gain/measurements: 128lbs. SOMEBODY had a growth spurt!

Maternity clothes: I had been searching for the perfect dress for my baby shower. I went on ASOS maternity and found a couple dresses that I LOVED! Because ASOS offers free return shipping, I usually order multiple items then return the "rejects". Anyways, I found the loveliest dress that fits my round body like a dream! I can't wait to wear it!!

Stretch marks? Not yet! I have been using sweet almond oil twice a day.

Sleep: Its been pretty good the last couple weeks considering how big I am. Emily has been extra cuddly and basically spoons my belly every morning. Its pretty adorable.

Best moment this week:  Finishing the nursery mobile!!

Miss anything? I miss not having to pee every 15 minutes. I feel like the cold makes it even worse!

Movement: I wonder how much room he has in there. He seems to be flopping around all over the place! I asked my doctor what his positioning during our last appointment and he was head down! :)

    Food cravings: Tuna (ew)

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing new. Still can't stand Old Bay or popcorn (barf!!)

    Gender: My Moy Boy <3

Symptoms: No new symptoms. Just getting progressively round and heavy.  Ligament pain is still an issue but I ordered a belly support band so I hope that will help out!

Belly button in or out? FLAT.

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or moody most of the time: Pretty consistent. I'm getting a little overwhelmed with the millions of things left to do, but other than that, I have been happy and excited.

Looking forward to: Interviewing  a pediatrician tomorrow!

We have baby registries at Target and Amazon! (for those of you who have asked)

I finally finishd my nursery mobile, and in the process I made an exta one that is now for sale in my etsy shop! >>CLICK HERE<<

This is the mobile that will live in my nursery!

Shower invitation design by Alexis Thornlow

HUGE thank you to The Burlap Bag for the lovely candles! Unicorn Puke smells like cotton candy, of course! And Crazy Cat Lady is a refreshing citrus-y scent. Check out all of her amazing scents >>HERE<<

  • 28 Week Pregnancy Update

    How far along? 28 weeks!

Total weight gain/measurements: 124 lbs, I am supposed to gain about a pound a week from now on!

Maternity clothes: Its getting hard to wear any of my pre-pregnancy clothes. Up until now I have been getting away with stretchy shirts and tank tops, but my belly is so big, it sticks out on the bottom. So I think I am going to buy a belly band because I am not really into spending money on "maternity" tops. With the exception of pants, of course! I have a few pairs of maternity leggings and yoga pants which have been amazing!

Stretch marks? Not yet! I have been using sweet almond oil twice a day.

Sleep: Movement has picked up this past week and I can feel him all at hours, his little squirms don't keep my up yet. BUT my back pains have!

Best moment this week:  Getting his closet put together. I am a freak for organization and Phil built the perfect closet system so let the OCD organizing begin!! :)

We also reserved our "mom and pop" car at the Subaru dealership this week! We had some custom requests (of course) so we should have our new ride mid-Feb! We are SOOOO excited!

Miss anything? The 2nd trimester. LOL. It was SUCH an easy 3 months! As soon as I passed over that third trimester mark, it felt like everything changed! I became bigger, more tired, more moody and just NOT comfortable.

Movement: I love my little ninja! I just started reading in to baby mapping. I kind of don't get it, but I THINK he might be sideways?!?! I have the bulge on the right side of my belly button or where my belly button USED to be, so either thats his little (or big, like his father hehe) head or his bum. BUT when I went to my 28 week OB appointment, she found his heart at the bottom of my belly. UGH, I don't even know! I am just going to ask her next time. lol

    Food cravings: slurpee!

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing new. Still can't stand Old Bay or popcorn (barf!!)

Gender: IT'S A BOY!!!!!!! My Moy Boy <3

Symptoms: Now that I am well into the third trimester, things are def different. As mentioned above, I am mad uncomfortable because I am getting so round, and my tiny upper body is having trouble supporting so much extra weight. I am much more tired this week and could literally sleep for days!!!! But I have too much to do for all of that.

Up until this week, I have had a pain-free pregnancy. I noticed some cramping and abdomen pains the other day and LOST MY SHIT! I though I may have been going into preterm labor which is my nightmare! My doc office wasn't open so I called the midwives at the hospital who calmed me right down! They told me to take a Tylenol and pop a heating pad only lower tummy for 5 minutes. I did just that and relaxed for the rest of they day, while my amazing baby daddy went out and got my crabby ass a slurpee, a snickers bar and Chinese take out. Everything a pregnant girl could want.

Belly button in or out? In, but just barely. Its pretty much flat at this point.. NOT CUTE but whatever.

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or moody most of the time: I've been happy but my tolerance for anything relating to an animal in pain will ruin my entire day. We are talking tears for HOURS. Usually I let it out for a minute and I am done, still sad, but no more tears. Not the case now. I will literally cry for hours if I see an animal in pain or being abused. :(

Looking forward to: The baby shower, our new car and finishing up a few of my diy projects!

We have baby registries at Target and Amazon! (for those of you who have asked)

  • The First Trimester | 13 Week update

We saw baby today during a sonogram appointment! The last time we saw him/her they were the size of a little bean and did not resemble a baby at all.

As soon as the ultrasound began, baby was bouncing all over the place. PARTY TIME!  I couldn't believe how much they had grown over the past 6 weeks! It melted my heart to see these little tiny hands flailing all over place and its little body squirming around. Thats our baby!!! I am in absolute love!

We even got a hint as to what the gender might be! Nothing confirmed so I wont be revealing that yet! ;)

Here a couple photos from the sonogram.

The first trimester wasn't a walk in the park, but it wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. I was basically nauseous all day, especially at night. I didn't throw up, not even once. But there were times I felt like it.

I developed a love/hate relationship with food. Foods that I once loved (Old Bay, popcorn, tomatoes) made me feel like death. I turned into such a picky eater. Ginger Ale and Tummydrops helped a lot, as well as a TON of water. Recently, the nausea has died down tremendously and I feel somewhat normal again.

Sleeping went from not being an issue to being super uncomfortable. I got a sleep pillow and all was right in sleep world!

My clothes are starting to get uncomfortable so I am living in yoga pants, oversized tshirts and hoodies. I bought my first pair of maternity leggings last week and there is no going back. These things are a life saver and I will be able to wear them as I grow.

We are very eager to get the nursery going so rug, crib and dresser are already in place! Now to find the perfect glider! I plan on sitting in my glider A LOT so it has to be comfy!

That is pretty much it! BYE first trimester! Thanks for not killing me!

  • Lives are changing!

We are so excited to finally announce our big news! Phil and I are having a baby! Our dream has come true and come April we will be parents! We couldn't be more excited to expand our little family of 3 (including Emily) to 4!

NYC photographer and good friend, Ross Thompson photographed these lovely announcement photos for us. (Location: Old Town, Va.) Check out his work here! Thanks Ross!!

Almost 8 years ago, shortly after Phil and I met, we came across the cutest little baby Vans shoes! I don't even know why, but we bought them. They traveled with us to 7 different homes and 4 different states. Who knew they would actually be apart of our announcement photos so many years later!? Clearly we will be a Vans wearing family. LOL.
