  • A Day Trip to Burnside Farms | Festival of Spring - Holland in Haymarket, Va.

Holland is known for their magical flower fields that cover the country this time of year. Since a quick trip to Holland isn't an option, the next best thing is just an hour outside of Washington DC in Haymarket, Virginia at Burnside Farms.

We had so much fun at the farm! We picked tulips, ran through the rows and rows of tulips and daffodils, jumped on a giant air pad and played with baby chicks. We got dirty, sweaty and took about a billion photos! I didn't want the day to end. It was such a perfect little day trip for a busy busy toddler!

  • Lily Jade: A Diaper Bag in Disguise and Special Announcement

The amount of stuff that comes along with you and baby on even the smallest of outings is ungodly! But its all necessary..what if he is hungry? I need extra bottles, formula and water. What if he has a blow out? I need enough diapers, wipes and change of clothes! What if he is cold? I need a hoodie and his favorite blanket. What if he doesn’t want to play with Daisy (currently, his favorite toy)? I need to bring a back up. What if it gets super sunny? I need his sun hat and sun screen. The list goes on and by the time you have everything stuffed into your diaper bag, its busting at the seams! Oh, and don’t even bother trying to fish anything out because its impossible, unless you’re lucky enough to find what you need at the top. My life as a mom was about to change.

When Lily Jade contacted me about reviewing one of their diaper bags, I was ecstatic! Of course, I had read and seen Lily Jade bags in magazines, on several mommy blogs and “must have lists”, so I knew I would absolutely adore this bag… this amazing diaper bag in disguise.

You’d never know this beautiful designer bag was stuffed full of blow out essentials and toys for days! The best part is, the chaos that IS a diaper bag is actually capable of being completely organized! One of my absolute favorite features is the removable “Baby Bag” organizer that comes with every Lily Jade bag. I can compartmentalize changing necessities, food, toys and have a separate section for my own things! There are two magnetic snaps that keeps the organizer in place, which also allows it to transform from diaper bag mode to “Mom is going out baby free” mode.

I have the “Madeline” in black which can be worn 3 different ways. Across the chest, on the shoulder and as a backpack! My son, Camden is in that wiggly stage and having our bag strapped to my back and totally out of the way, makes everything SO much easier!

This bag is just wonderful and has changed the way Camden and I go out. Have I convinced you to look into getting your very own Lily Jade diaper bag? I hope so because I have some exciting news!

Who doesn’t love a good giveaway!? I have teamed up with Lily Jade and we are giving away a diaper bag to one lucky Instagram follower. Keep an eye out for my official announcement which will be posted next week on my Instagram!

  • Camden's 4 Month Update

    4 Months

    Weight: 16.5lbs

    Length: 27 inches

    Diaper size: 2

    Clothing size: 6 months

Health: We have our 4 month appointment coming up which means shots :(

Sleep: We attempted to nap-train him in his crib but that didn’t go over very well. He fusses then only sleeps for 30-45 minutes so back to the swing he went. He finally has a pretty set nap routine, although times do vary depending on his energy and mood.

He wakes up at about 7am, and SOMETIMES he will fall back to sleep in bed while nursing. But since he is a pretty solid night sleeper its not every morning. His first naps have been around 10:30-11 and sleep anywhere from 1 hour to 3 hours. NEVER WAKE A SLEEPING BABY- so I let him sleep as much as he wants. He still takes a couple little catnaps here and there but those last only about 20 - 30 minutes. Then around 3:00 he takes his second nap of the day. Wakes up around 4:00-5:00. Bed time feedings start at 8 so he is usually asleep in his crib by 8:30. He still sleeps though the night but teething is happening so I am sure that will change.

We still swaddle him at night but have begun the weaning process. He sleeps with one arm out and doesn’t seems phased at all. Fingers crossed we get the same response when both arms are out!

Diet: Breast milk and formula. We introduced him to apple juice as suggested by his doctor. We noticed discomfort when trying to poop, so we started giving him about 3 oz of diluted apple juiced. It’s been helping a ton! Plus I think the kiddo likes the taste.

Loves: Chewing on everything! Loves to be front facing in his carrier. He is starting to enjoy tummy time which make me a happy mama! Build those neck muscles!

Dislikes: Bath time is still not fun. This keep will NOT be the stinky kid in school who doesn’t bathe so we are buying him a new “tub” which hopefully will help and make him feel better. Still not a fan of the car, although we can get about 10 minutes of silence out of him if we bring all 5 million of his toys with him. :p I think he is getting better with his stroller, he seems to not HATE it. I think thats due to the fact that he can actually see whats in front of him now so he is too distracted by his surroundings to get pissy.

Milestones: He can push his whole upper body up and wiggle in different directions. I will put him down on his playmat, and 2 minutes later he is on the other side. He taught himself to self-sooth with his fingers. He has also started “talking”. Its crazy cute! He has also started playing with his toys. He recognizes the difference and definitely has preferred favorites.

Speech: He will have a full on baby conversation with his toys. I can tell he is going to be a chatter box when he can actually talk. Just like his mama and dada <3

  • 29 & 30 Week Pregnancy Update Plus DIY Nursery Mobiles, The Burlap Bag Gifts, Baby Shower Invitation and More

    How far along? 30 weeks

Total weight gain/measurements: 128lbs. SOMEBODY had a growth spurt!

Maternity clothes: I had been searching for the perfect dress for my baby shower. I went on ASOS maternity and found a couple dresses that I LOVED! Because ASOS offers free return shipping, I usually order multiple items then return the "rejects". Anyways, I found the loveliest dress that fits my round body like a dream! I can't wait to wear it!!

Stretch marks? Not yet! I have been using sweet almond oil twice a day.

Sleep: Its been pretty good the last couple weeks considering how big I am. Emily has been extra cuddly and basically spoons my belly every morning. Its pretty adorable.

Best moment this week:  Finishing the nursery mobile!!

Miss anything? I miss not having to pee every 15 minutes. I feel like the cold makes it even worse!

Movement: I wonder how much room he has in there. He seems to be flopping around all over the place! I asked my doctor what his positioning during our last appointment and he was head down! :)

    Food cravings: Tuna (ew)

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing new. Still can't stand Old Bay or popcorn (barf!!)

    Gender: My Moy Boy <3

Symptoms: No new symptoms. Just getting progressively round and heavy.  Ligament pain is still an issue but I ordered a belly support band so I hope that will help out!

Belly button in or out? FLAT.

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or moody most of the time: Pretty consistent. I'm getting a little overwhelmed with the millions of things left to do, but other than that, I have been happy and excited.

Looking forward to: Interviewing  a pediatrician tomorrow!

We have baby registries at Target and Amazon! (for those of you who have asked)

I finally finishd my nursery mobile, and in the process I made an exta one that is now for sale in my etsy shop! >>CLICK HERE<<

This is the mobile that will live in my nursery!

HUGE thank you to The Burlap Bag for the lovely candles! Unicorn Puke smells like cotton candy, of course! And Crazy Cat Lady is a refreshing citrus-y scent. Check out all of her amazing scents >>HERE<<

  • 28 Week Pregnancy Update

    How far along? 28 weeks!

Total weight gain/measurements: 124 lbs, I am supposed to gain about a pound a week from now on!

Maternity clothes: Its getting hard to wear any of my pre-pregnancy clothes. Up until now I have been getting away with stretchy shirts and tank tops, but my belly is so big, it sticks out on the bottom. So I think I am going to buy a belly band because I am not really into spending money on "maternity" tops. With the exception of pants, of course! I have a few pairs of maternity leggings and yoga pants which have been amazing!

Stretch marks? Not yet! I have been using sweet almond oil twice a day.

Sleep: Movement has picked up this past week and I can feel him all at hours, his little squirms don't keep my up yet. BUT my back pains have!

Best moment this week:  Getting his closet put together. I am a freak for organization and Phil built the perfect closet system so let the OCD organizing begin!! :)

We also reserved our "mom and pop" car at the Subaru dealership this week! We had some custom requests (of course) so we should have our new ride mid-Feb! We are SOOOO excited!

Miss anything? The 2nd trimester. LOL. It was SUCH an easy 3 months! As soon as I passed over that third trimester mark, it felt like everything changed! I became bigger, more tired, more moody and just NOT comfortable.

Movement: I love my little ninja! I just started reading in to baby mapping. I kind of don't get it, but I THINK he might be sideways?!?! I have the bulge on the right side of my belly button or where my belly button USED to be, so either thats his little (or big, like his father hehe) head or his bum. BUT when I went to my 28 week OB appointment, she found his heart at the bottom of my belly. UGH, I don't even know! I am just going to ask her next time. lol

    Food cravings: slurpee!

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing new. Still can't stand Old Bay or popcorn (barf!!)

Gender: IT'S A BOY!!!!!!! My Moy Boy <3

Symptoms: Now that I am well into the third trimester, things are def different. As mentioned above, I am mad uncomfortable because I am getting so round, and my tiny upper body is having trouble supporting so much extra weight. I am much more tired this week and could literally sleep for days!!!! But I have too much to do for all of that.

Up until this week, I have had a pain-free pregnancy. I noticed some cramping and abdomen pains the other day and LOST MY SHIT! I though I may have been going into preterm labor which is my nightmare! My doc office wasn't open so I called the midwives at the hospital who calmed me right down! They told me to take a Tylenol and pop a heating pad only lower tummy for 5 minutes. I did just that and relaxed for the rest of they day, while my amazing baby daddy went out and got my crabby ass a slurpee, a snickers bar and Chinese take out. Everything a pregnant girl could want.

Belly button in or out? In, but just barely. Its pretty much flat at this point.. NOT CUTE but whatever.

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or moody most of the time: I've been happy but my tolerance for anything relating to an animal in pain will ruin my entire day. We are talking tears for HOURS. Usually I let it out for a minute and I am done, still sad, but no more tears. Not the case now. I will literally cry for hours if I see an animal in pain or being abused. :(

Looking forward to: The baby shower, our new car and finishing up a few of my diy projects!

We have baby registries at Target and Amazon! (for those of you who have asked)

  • The First Trimester | 13 Week update

We saw baby today during a sonogram appointment! The last time we saw him/her they were the size of a little bean and did not resemble a baby at all.

As soon as the ultrasound began, baby was bouncing all over the place. PARTY TIME!  I couldn't believe how much they had grown over the past 6 weeks! It melted my heart to see these little tiny hands flailing all over place and its little body squirming around. Thats our baby!!! I am in absolute love!

We even got a hint as to what the gender might be! Nothing confirmed so I wont be revealing that yet! ;)

Here a couple photos from the sonogram.

The first trimester wasn't a walk in the park, but it wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. I was basically nauseous all day, especially at night. I didn't throw up, not even once. But there were times I felt like it.

I developed a love/hate relationship with food. Foods that I once loved (Old Bay, popcorn, tomatoes) made me feel like death. I turned into such a picky eater. Ginger Ale and Tummydrops helped a lot, as well as a TON of water. Recently, the nausea has died down tremendously and I feel somewhat normal again.

Sleeping went from not being an issue to being super uncomfortable. I got a sleep pillow and all was right in sleep world!

My clothes are starting to get uncomfortable so I am living in yoga pants, oversized tshirts and hoodies. I bought my first pair of maternity leggings last week and there is no going back. These things are a life saver and I will be able to wear them as I grow.

We are very eager to get the nursery going so rug, crib and dresser are already in place! Now to find the perfect glider! I plan on sitting in my glider A LOT so it has to be comfy!

That is pretty much it! BYE first trimester! Thanks for not killing me!

  • Lives are changing!

We are so excited to finally announce our big news! Phil and I are having a baby! Our dream has come true and come April we will be parents! We couldn't be more excited to expand our little family of 3 (including Emily) to 4!

NYC photographer and good friend, Ross Thompson photographed these lovely announcement photos for us. (Location: Old Town, Va.) Check out his work here! Thanks Ross!!

Almost 8 years ago, shortly after Phil and I met, we came across the cutest little baby Vans shoes! I don't even know why, but we bought them. They traveled with us to 7 different homes and 4 different states. Who knew they would actually be apart of our announcement photos so many years later!? Clearly we will be a Vans wearing family. LOL.
