  • Falling for Fall: Halloween & Family Outings

The best season of the entire year always feels like the shortest. Virginia is absolutely GORGEOUS this time of year!  We had to make the most of every single beautiful day!

Went to Nalls Produce to pick out our pumpkins this year! They had all sorts of cute Halloween displays and activities for kids. Of course, Cam is too young to run around and play, but he loved seeing the farm pig, chickens, pumpkins and other kids. We had SOO much fun! Oh, I should also mention it was 80 degrees on this day. So weird!

A sweet stranger offered to take a quick fam photo of us <3

Camden is pretty stoked on leaves. He loves to grab them and crunch them in his hands.  Beanie- Amazon | Flannel Shirt- Old Navy | Therman- Carters | Pants- Zara | Boots- Dr. Martens

Leela, Fry and Nibbler from Futurama.  I had SO much fun DIY-ing these costumes. It was surprisingly easy! For Leela, I bought a sheet of plastic needlepoint paper and drew/cut out her cyclops eye. Then, used black elastic to create the band. For the gauntlet, I used foam sheets. I already had black pants and a white tank top. My costume cost $3! Fry was super easy as well! Orange wash-out hair dye which I found for $2 at Target, red dress-shirt and jeans from Good Will, cost $10, Phil already had a white t-shirt and black Vans shoes. Nibbler was a little more work, but it was still quite cheap! I had a plain black beanie and used felt to create Nibbler's face. For his middle eye, I used a couple black pipe cleaners that poked out the top center and hot glued a foam ball to it. I sewed the pipe cleaner into the hat to secure it. For the red cape, I bought the cheapest red fabric I could find from Handcock Fabric ($2). Camden already had black pants, and a black hoodie. I used a piece of tan felt to make Nibbler's belly.

Took our Futurama costumes to the Del Ray Halloween Costume Parade. So many wonderful costumes, we were so happy to be apart of it.

Carved a cat pumpkin, of course! Tip to keeping your pumpkin last longer: mixture of equal parts water and bleach. Spray the exposed pumpkin flesh.

And because you can't just have one costume for your first Halloween AND this is the year of Star Wars... Camden was Yoda on actual Halloween. I found the crochet beanie on Etsy, the mini lightsaber from Target dollar deals section, and I made his little tan robe. He already had brown leggings.

We walked around town for a bit so Camden could show off his rad Yoda costume.

My Halloween make up this year. Pop art gal <3 We sat outside, listed to the MIsfits, handed out candy and had a pizza and wine party. It was the best Halloween ever!

First pumpkin pie of the year and a test run for Thanksgiving!
